The barebone architechitecture, gardens, and location is hard to beat. This is one of the oldest hotels in Manuel Antonio and clings to the mountain side and has a mature garden. it has spectacular views from the "ocean view rooms". Otherwise it feels like you're in the jungle which is nice as well. As other reviews have mentioned, this hotel needs some TLC, but not that much really. Our room had a cracked sink and a lose toilet and some faded painting, but the vaulted ceiling, doors, windows and beds are all made from gorgeous wood. The interior decorator in me wanted to get to work--paint the walls white (rather than yellow), add terracotta tiles and update the art works. There were oddly no hooks to hang towels. The safe didn't have a key. barely no surfaces in the bathroom to put your toiletries on. Restaurant is gorgeous, but the pool water didn't look clean and the menu didn't inspire other than the wood fired pizza and drinks. No breakfast is served. you could tell the staff was stretched thin and doing their best, but I'm guessing their cheap rates makes it hard to keep it all going.

We LOVED this hotel. We got a room with an ocean view and it had absolutely the most stunning views, especially during sunset. I loved that balcony. The room was nice -- it had two beds (more than we needed!). The shower worked alright. It got hot if you had the water barely on, which we learned was typical of hotels in Costa Rica. The service was fantastic. The pool and bar area was very nice. The rooms weren't the most clean -- there were some bugs and mini geckos that got in, but they didn't really bother us at all. There are definitely many steps you have to climb up to get to the rooms, but it's built on a hill so that makes sense. Also it's 100% worth it to get the view. Great price, great location. Easy to get to Manuel Antonio. Several hotels and grocery stores nearby to walk to. Definitely recommend!

Hotel is located on the hill (La Colina) near Quepos. Easily accessible parking, delicious free breakfast and the restaurant. Great live music. WiFi access is not the best but it works. Rooms could have better lights and better AC but...what is more important for me is the friendly staff and the views of the area from the top floor. Absolutely gorgeous! Also, hotel is surrounded by the jungle and there is a lot to see...You just need to be prepared to climb to the top floor :) I highly recommend this hotel!

We took a group of 16 plus a driver and guide here for two nights in January. Upon arrival there was no one at the front desk, but the restaurant staff jumped in to help. There was a bit of confusion about our rooms, which may have been our failure to clearly articulate our needs. In any event the owner was wonderful about adjusting our room assignments to fit our needs. The rooms are small but entirely met our needs. The breakfast was off a menu: eggs and meat; pancakes; or traditional Costa Rican fare. The restaurant also offered lunch and dinner as well as a full bar. The food was quite good, especially the pizzas. A very good value and wonderful staff.
