I recently stayed at the Marina beach hotel and had a marvelous time. Everything from the room being very clean to the service provided was excellent. We had 2 private tours with Duminda (Fort Galle) and Gayan (Sigiriya) who were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and advice on how much to spend on visitor "prices" They certainly made our long journeys worth while. Thankyou. The staff also in the hotel were very good at helping you get a taxi and telling you which restaurants to go to. Ministry of crab and Celon curry club were fantastic and so tasty both recommended by staff. The only one thing that I didn't like much was the breakfast was sometimes a little luke war. Apart from that a great hotel overall, right on the beach front with an excellent pool and facilities all-round. Well done

The hotel facilities , food , staff and location are par excellence . Staff of agile and responds to the guests requests smilingly . There is a mall accessible from within the hotel so one doesn't need to go out far for food should one want to dine outside .Mac Donald is not far too . The road in front has many food joints too . Important : There is no beach at the location .The hotel front has a running traffic road then a railway line beyond which rough waters of the Indian Ocean . They do have their own beach area about 2 kms away to which the hotel runs every hour free shuttle bus where one can enjoy the beach and the sunset . Breakfast sadly not much changes every day but is quite well spread and with several options one can juggle to have something one day and another the next day . Great and comfortable place to stay with many autos waiting outside for quick trips to the city .

After our stay in 2000 and 2003 we were back after 19 years with our family. The positives of then were still applicable including some changes for the better. The hotel is not at the main street which is good for noice reduction. The hotel has a nice inner garden and a large relaxing garden next to the swimming pool. There are enough comfortable sunbeds and shade from trees and umbrellas. Between the swimming pool and the sea is the Manoli's Sunrise restaurant owned by Marinos. At the restaurant is also the daily breakfast till 10 o'clock. There is enough variety of everything, fresh products for the breakfast and some meals change daily. The bread is sometimes a little dry and I wasn't a fan of the bacon and machine coffee. There is a good Italian coffee machine but you have to pay extra. On the room though is a Nespresso machine and you get 2 cups a day so I preferred that one. The rooms have been renovated and upgraded recently and are just in one word perfect. Very well decorated, modern, of good quality and has everything you need; a large rainshower, a separate toilette, comfortable bed, large refrigerator, enough storage space, a locker and a nice balcony. We had sight see view but that was overrated. The personnel is super friendly and helpful and they work very hard to make sure you have the best time. If you need anything, the reception can provide. They can also arrange a cab quickly. In the garden and on the beach (note that the beach beds have to be paid separately) there is service for drinks, ice and food. You can also grap lunch at the Manoli's sunrise restaurant. For food it closes around 6 p.m. and the bar unfortunately already at 7 p.m. The swimming pool is open till 9 p.m. and the beach access is till 11 p.m. also to make sure there is no noice nuisance for the hotel guests. The hotel is popular by both families as couples. On our last day we had to check out at 11 a.m. but we could still make use of all facilities like the swimming pool and showers in the general area. These showers could use a update though. All in all we enjoyed our stay, just as 19 years ago, very much. I can't imagine that Marino's doesn't receive a 4 star very soon.
