My partner and I have just returned from a wonderful week in Kos. The Palazzo del Mare is a superb Hotel with some amazing staff. I just wish we had booked 2 weeks ! The hotel was spotless, probably the cleanest I've ever been in. The staff were so polite and attentive. The swimming pool and gardens were stunning. So pretty to look at. Lovely beach, great bus service just outside the hotel at the back. Food, drinks and entertainment were all perfect. A La Carte lunch in the restaurant next to the pool served up some fantastic food, the Calmari, local Greek dishes and pork gyros were especially tasty. The wine and beer were good quality. The buffet in the evening - spoilt for choice. Lots to choose from and the chefs catered for everybody. Lots of traditional Greek dishes to choose from, morning, lunch and in the evening. It was all very authentic. Nothing was too much trouble. The entertainment was good. The Greek Night was my favourite! Plenty of sun loungers around the pool and on the beach. The swimming pool was huge. We swam a couple of laps each day, and Ive still managed to gain 4lbs in weight ! Local bus service takes you into Kos Town - takes around 25 minutes. Very easy to do. Reception can provide you with a timetable. We visited one evening and again during the day, Kos Old Town has a lot to offer, lovely shops, bars, restaurants if you want a change of scenery. We hired a car through reception for a day - visited Paradise Beach which was perfect for the morning, returned for lunch, then went out in the afternoon and visited Zia, which is a little village up in the hills, lots of tavernas, shops, bars, and a viewing point to see the sunset. The beach across the road from the Hotel also offers a good photo opportunity for a stunning sunset too. This was our first visit to Kos, it is very similar to Crete. The Hotel staff, reception team, housekeeping, waiting staff, gardeners, all of them worked so hard. We had a truly wonderful experience and I would return to this Hotel in a heartbeat. The rooms were large, the bed linens and towels were all fresh and new, lovely balcony which overlooked the pool. A perfect holiday and this Hotel keeps very high standards while maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. The staff had a great team spirit.

First time at this hotel. When we were driven up to the hotel you are struck with how grand and beautiful it is and entering an oasis of calm. Indeed the week proves to be just that. Greeted by friendly staff who explained all the hotel had to offer. The welcome drink and cold towel were very refreshing after a long trip. The grounds are lush and green and the pool is the best we've ever seen. It's huge, shallow and refreshingly cool but not too cold. The sun loungers are generously spaced out and there's always one free at whatever time of the day. We had a pool view room with balcony. It's a large room and only niggle is it's single beds pushed together. Odd for an adults only hotel where surely most clients are couples. Tea and coffee supplies and replenished each day and also two bottles of water each day. Rooms well cleaned each day too. Buffet breakfast and dinner is lovely restaurant setting. It's kind've indoor/outdoor so there's a nice breeze. The food is a great selection and it changes each night. You get one night at the culinanrium restaurant which is a la carte. It's four courses but each course quickly follows the previous. I would recommend the courses are staggered to enjoy the experience more and let food settle! PS- the fried manouri is cheese, we guessed it would fish, our fault I guess! Menu is cheese heavy but tastes good. Hotel has a packed schedule of activities and entertainment. Our favourite was the rock band (George and band) and star gazing. Word to the wise, for the star gazing - which is excellent - please follow hotels advice and wear long sleeves and or mossie repellent as wifey got bitten useless. Also do the sunset evening but check the time as the sunset gets earlier each night (obviously!) and you don't want to miss it. Also - the half day excursion is well worth it, very informative and you see the top spots in the area. Also the trip finishes around 3pm so a generous half day! There is a small supermarket about 10/15mins away so easy to get all your water and snacks. To finish, all the staff really nice and helpful. We are already planning our return! Beach is just across the road which

The Good - pictures speak for themselves it's beautiful especially the pool. Staff great, housekeeping great, super peaceful. Lots of food choice. Comfy beds and beautiful swim up room. Resort spotless So the not so good -Food does not match the star rating, but expected that, a couple of dishes a night were however really great. Cocktails are weak and contain hardly/no alcohol at 16e and a whiskey and mixer was same price. Entertainment was like old people's home if I'm honest. Our arrival room was not as booked or as per our accessibility request. Rectified by the manager, but if we had been the last check in and not the first, it would have been a different story as the hotel was full. If you add to that the unreliable and poor airline experience, delays which some of which where the responsibility of the operator. Imho it wasn't the whole package I was expecting for 4k for a week, esp the lottery on your room allocation. So enjoyed the experience hence 4* but won't be returning.
