Had an absolutely wonderful holiday in Sorrento this summer. Can highly recommend this wonderful little family run hotel just off the main strip in Sorrento. We were extremely well looked after especially given our food issues. Nothing was too much trouble for the Maitre’d who looked after us brilliantly. Perfectly placed for all the amenities. You need to be on the rear side of the hotel though (bay side); pay extra for the sea view!! We went with Jet2holidays and it was excellent VFM. Totally recommend.

Ask for a room with balcony over looking the ocean worth paying extra. There is a great little terrace outside that you can have a quiet drink from the bar.

We went here last May (not got round to writing up my reviews) we understood that in a just over a week of us leaving, it was going to be closed for think they said a month for refurbishment. I do not know how intense this refurbishment would be, but I think it did need quite an extensive one. There is not a lot they can do about its layout, for example in some respects it is a great location right at the end of the pedestrian street but then again this is also a busy road that it is situated at and so can be quite noisy if you are at the front over looking the road especially if you think we will sit out on our small balcony! The hospital is basically right next door so during the night you can be woken by sirens. Like I say this cant be done anything about because it is in Sorrento itself and there are supermarkets and a lot of the bus excursions pick up by a pull in bit at the hotel opposite and where you get dropped off and pick up from your airport transfer. So in some ways it is great location but in others not so great. Just to make you aware; depends what you want. It is a good 10-15 mins walk to the train station down the pedestrian street and then a bit further. Not good if like us you got off the train to discover effectively there is a huge thunderstorm happening and you get drenched in the process of walking back to the hotel. The food is very nice and well prepared and cooked. The only thing that we would critise is that if you are there for 2 weeks on half board then the menus for the evening meal are exactly the same on the second week as they are on the first week. You choose your meal at breakfast so it is cooked to order and there are a couple of choices per course. But if you do not like for example one of the courses then you know you are going to have exactly the same meal on the same night the second week! We did like the fact that if you ordered a bottle of wine that they would keep it for you with your room number on or even bottled water for the following evening or until you had drank it. The roof terrace with the jacquizzi (which is not heated by the way only with the sun if there is any!) is quite nice but has no bar so you either have to go down a floor to the bar or wait until the bar man comes up and asks if you would like a drink. There was a bit of an issue with water overflow seepage on the roof and this really needed dealing with on the refurbishment. The tvs were small flat screeen ones but not many channels. So in the evening as there was nothing going on at the hotel and no one really sat in the reception bar, then it was either sit in your unenspiring room watching nothing really on tv, read a book or just go out every night. The beds were not of the best quality or the bedding. The air conditioning wasnt on until after a certain date which is fine but then when it did come on, ours would drip so we had to put the bath mat on the floor as it was in front of the wardrobe area and as it is tiled floor we were worried about slipping. We did think to go and mention it but thought as we were over half way through our holiday by the time the air conditioning came on then it wasnt worth it particularly as we knew by then they were intending to close for refurbishment so it would probably be dealt with then. It just all felt a little tired and it wasnt that cheap. We know that Sorrento is not cheap anyway and that this on its own website is said to be a 3 star but on holiday sites it states it as 4 star; it definately is not a 4 star. While we were there it seemed to be a popular place for bus tours to stay at which I assume for them it was great as they wouldnt be spending time using the facilities of the hotel, just dinner when they arrived and then sleeping and then breakfast before out on a busy day sightseeing to come back and then after a couple of days move on and then another group would arrive. We have learned from this that we should of paid a bit more for going 4 star and been happier at our hotel. We found ourselves as the weather was not great going out of the hotel because it was not hot enough to lounge and we really didnt want to sit in our room as it really didnt feel like you wanted to spend much time in there that we would go out more than we would of had the hotel been a little more and the rooms felt more inviting. Like I say the food we had was very nice but again perhaps we would of enjoyed it much more if we had just gone bed and breakfast rather than going half board because Sorrento isnt short of places to eat and you didnt feel like you wanted to spend too much time at the hotel particularly in the evening so we would again go out. So when you add this cost to your overall hotel of a 3 star, then we would probably of been better off and happier in a four star.
