If you are searching for a beach holiday, this hotel is perfect. It doesn’t try to follow the fashion of the pretentious instagram-oriented “luxury beach experience”. It is a genuine, well managed beach hotel with all the right things: excellent beach and extremely kind personnel. Definitely family friendly, this place has a feeling of familiarity. Many customers seems to be returning year after year. Restaurant quality might be improved, but again the personnel of their restaurant is attentive and kind.

“Lovely beach hotel”
Great location for a beach holiday in Apulia! The hotel is just in front of an amazing beach, with all services and a nice beach bar. Few minutes by car to Monopoli old town and other tourist sites like the famous Alberobello and Locorotondo.

Great location for a beach holiday, easy driving distance to local attractions and tourist sites. The beach was lovely. On calmer days there were plenty of fish to be seen while snorkelling. Pedalos and Jetskis available for hire on the beach. Kids entertainment is laid on in the evening after dinner, but in Italian, which might inhibit shy and non-Italian speaking children from joining in. The entertainment troop were a nice bunch. The food was lovely, and was (I understand) distinctively local. We (lazily) didn't try to learn any Italian, but we still got on ok in this hotel, e.g. the menu was presented in English and most of our requests to staff were understood. We heard (almost) no other english voices during our stay, which didn't bother us at all. Note: Your nearest supermarket is not round the corner you need to drive to Monopoli. Similar story re local restaurants and bars, there's nothing close, you're looking at a walk over 1 kilometre.

“Fabulous, friendly family style hotel (but the WORST mattress I’ve ever-slept on!)”

We love HLTE and have stayed there a number of times mostly off season until this last visit. It’s not quite high season yet so we got a great rate on a workweek stay. In fact they gave us a bungalow for the price of a regular room. You can’t ask for a better location from which to explore Puglia, on a stunning stretch of beach south of Bari. We went to dinner in the nearby towns of Alberobello, Polignano, Savelletri and Ostuni, all within half an hour drive. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a generous continental buffet on the terrace overlooking the sea. If you take full or half pension you won’t be disappointed. The food is good (though it is probably smarter to explore locally). This is a good mid-priced vacation destination. As such there are some compromises to make. Bring your own hair dryer so you don’t have to use the virtually useless long hose hanging in the bathroom; ditto on toiletries unless you’re ok using multipurpose packets. The single complaint I have (which I shared with the management at checkout) was that the mattress in the cute bungalow No 3 that we’ve stayed in several times times may be the single worst mattress we’ve ever slept on. It must be there since the place opened. Ancient. Hopefully they will buy new mattresses they will be as nice as every other aspect of this little jewel. So definitely stay, but you might want to test the mattress before finalizing your room choice.
