Lovely place in the heart of the Pueblo, very close to ,bars, restaurants. The small hotel was very clean and the staff very attentive if you had a problem. Will be going back again when we come down to the coast next time to see friends or relatives living in Benalmadena

The hotel is situated in one of the prettiest streets in Benalmadena Pueblo, close to all amenities, bars, restaurants, supermarkets etc., and within 2 minutes walking distance of the main square, with its typical bars and restaurants serving good food and the traditional tapas. The church,is a short distance further on with spectacular views of the whole coast. The staff at the hotel I found to be very informal and friendly & could advise of where best to go for eating out etc. Just two of the very good eateries I found were La Taperia restaurant serving a good 3-course menu of the day and also bar Parada serving excellent tapas, and El Parador restaurant serving both tapas and main meals - their speciality being pizzas which were extremely tasty. There are various bus routes connected to the pueblo of Benalmadena and whilst there I took a trip on one to visit the beautiful unspoilt mountain village of Mijas. Also there are buses down into the town of Arroyo de la Miel, with many bars, restaurants & shops plus an excellent train service to further afield like Fuengirola & the capital city of Malaga. On my first day at the hotel, it was necessary to check-in at the Hotel La Fonda which is close-by but as there was no-one on reception at all during my stay, I would say that for travellers who don't know the area this may not be easy as a map as to how to get there (although it is only a 2 minute walk away) could pose a problem. In my own case I am familiar with the pueblo but nonetheless as I was travelling alone, it was necessary to leave luggage in an unguarded reception (as I didn't want to lug it with me) which was a little disconcerting. It was the young lady who was cleaning that advised me that it would be fine to leave luggage just behind the reception & refreshed my memory as to how to locate the La Fonda Hotel. The pueblo in general is a very safe area. I would mention that if arriving by taxi, they are unable to drive right upto the door of the Hotel - the same is true on leaving. The La Fonda Hotel can order a taxi to the airport ( or wherever) and it can stop on the corner very near to the Posada. There is also a taxi rank in the main part of the village. I would also mention that for people with mobility problems, there is no lift, and the staircase has to be used to reach most rooms. There are a couple of rooms at ground level in the patio so it would be worth mentioning when booking. Unfortunately, the first room I was allocated was not suitable as it was located next to the laundry room and there were some overhead pipes which seemed to be making a humming noise. I had to return to the La Fonda hotel to ask to change rooms, which was done very efficiently and without problem. The room I was given was spacious and perfectly adequate for my needs. There are telephones in the rooms and I was told that if I had any other problems I could contact the La Fonda Hotel by dialling 100 to speak to someone personally. As many people have mentioned, the breakfast at La Posada is one of its best attributes. There was an excellent choice of bread rolls, sliced bread & croissants. The fillings were many - homemade jam & marmalade, olive oil & tomato, manchego & cheddar cheese, ham, homemade spanish omelette etc.etc. Also available were delicious homemade cinnamon cake together with apple cake plus seaonal fruits. In closing, I found the Posada Hotel to be perfectly adequate & very reasonably priced. One could say that the rooms were not exactly modern in decor - more in the older style, however this reflects in the name Posada which in Spanish means Inn which in days gone by would have been used by travellers with facilities for freshening up and enjoying a good breakfast before going on their way. I must say that the beds in the Posada were extremely comfortable; some of the most comfortable I have come across in other more upmarket hotels. This aided good rest and sleep. I would certainly return to La Posada and its delightful location.
