“Just few drinks”
We never stayed at the hotel. But we did stop for few drinks outside. Lovely location, good vibes and great atmosphere. Drinks were freezing cold, just what was needed. Great table service, prices wasn’t too high either. Friendly service in nice spot, highly recommended

Our stay at Hotel Marissal in Malaga had its ups and downs. The hotel has potential, but there are several areas that need improvement. The furniture throughout the hotel is old and clearly in need of an update. We initially booked an economy room, which turned out to be quite disappointing. The room had a very strong smell of mold, making it hard for us to sleep at night. While we understand that the location might contribute to dampness, this is not a valid excuse for the lack of proper maintenance. The next day, we upgraded to a sea-view room, which was a much better experience. The room was cozier, with a charming small French balcony that added a nice touch. It was definitely worth . However, the reception staff could benefit from some training in guest relations. Their attitude was less than welcoming, which left us feeling a bit undervalued as guests. Overall, the hotel has a good location and some nice features, but it needs updates and better customer service to truly offer a pleasant stay.

I visited off season (February) so the main hotel area was closed. Checkin was done online. As there was nobody on site, I had to phone in order to get my room number and the code to open the door (no room keys - entry is via a keypad, and I saw several guests struggling with that). So gaining entry to the room was a little confusing. It should also be noted that if anyone pushes the main entry door shut (instead of letting it close automatically), the door locks. This is clearly marked, but I was a bit anxious of being locked out accidentally by fellow guests! In fact I did find it locked on one occasion - luckily it was while I was inside, so I could release it. If I’d been outside, I would have had to phone for assistance. I booked a sea view room which overlooks the Balcon de Europa. The room is small and basic, but tidy and serviced daily. WiFi is available and reliable. At the time of writing, there is construction work taking place on the Balcon de Europa, and work starts at about 8am - but with the French doors to the Juliet balcony closed, I couldn’t hear it. So noise insulation against the bustle of the Balcon de Europa is surprisingly good. The bathroom is equipped with a rainfall and handheld shower with good water pressure. Unfortunately it was slow draining, so when I took a slightly longer shower to wash my hair, the bathroom got a bit flooded. This is a fairly basic, no frills hotel, but given the location, it’s very good value for money, near the Old Town, the beaches and of course the Balcon de Europa.
