We stayed 6 nights in early March. Food is excellent: buffet service, fresh, varied, nicely presented, LOTS of fresh fruit and veg. Room and bathroom was clean, (no bugs, no smelly drains) with a big comfortable bed. For us, a great location, situated at the quieter less-developed end of Playa Blanca away from the mad touristy bustle of the resort centre. The sea view rooms are worth the extra money and really do have a view of the sea, you are just a few metres away from the waves breaking on the shore and no fence or barrier in the way. The hotel has its own small beach, and there is a nice larger public beach 20mins walk along the promenade towards the town. I'll come to stay again. A few suggestions for management (not meant to be criticisms): bigger cups (mugs) and bigger bowls for breakfast would be a nil-cost improvement. Perhaps some real fruit juice instead of squash? For Brits like me who like "a proper strong cup of tea": some decent tea-bags (PG Tips, Yorkshire, Liptons or similar) would be great. Oh, and probably all coffee-drinking guests would agree the stuff from the machines is drinkable but really not that great.

Stayed at Royal Mónica for 2 weeks had a lovely relaxing holiday for me and my husband. The one issue I had was the pool was not heated which wouldn’t usually bother me to much, but as it does advertise the hotel having a heated pool I was disappointed, I also emailed the hotel in person asking if it was definitely heated and had a return email saying yes. So I was upset to find it cold. They should not be advertising it as heated. But didnt spoil our holiday. Hotel clean, food good and a fantastic quiet sea front hotel

Special thank you for everyone who work here, start from reception, restaurant, entertainment team (we remember all of you, you are amazing!), housekeeping team. Food was very good, actually the best. For those, who write negative review I would like to say: - Wherever you go, you take yourself with you.

Although the SBH Hotel Royal Monica was a lovely hotel in a great but quiet location, it really is not geared up for children. There were no specific children’s activities or games, the kids club was not operating and there was no mini disco for the first 3 nights we were there. It was only after several requests by me, that they finally arranged a mini disco for the last couple of nights. When I asked the animation team if they would be arranging any games for the children, I was told that they did not do children’s games. The hotel also advertises that they have a heated pool for the winter months. This is not true, the pools were freezing cold, and the kids were not able to use them, which was very disappointing. So, with the cold pools and the lack of children’s activities and entertainment, it really was not the children’s holiday we had hoped for. That said, the view was beautiful, and the little beach coves and sun beds on the sea front were lovely. It was a 30 min walk to Flamingo Beach which is worth a visit. The hotel had a tennis/football/basket ball court overlooking the sea which was good but such a shame that there were no organised games. The rooms were lovely and spacious and the beach hut vibes are nice. The pool bar is nice but very little atmosphere, just some constant background music would help to make it feel less soul less! There was one guy from the animation team who managed to put on some fun shows in the evenings (don't know his name but he was from the Dominican Republic), without him, it would have been very dull! The food was nice, with a good selection and the restaurant staff were really friendly and interacted well with kids. On the whole, I think this hotel has so much potential to make it better, it is a lovely setting but just needs some life!
