The entertainment was minimal, not sure if this was because of the time of year or usual practice. The apartments are fab, we were on the top floor and although a bit of a trek with the luggage, it is well worth the effort for the wonderful views. As has been mentioned by others, there is the hill to contend with, but if you are reasonably fit, this is not an issue. Wish this hotel was in another resort as Puerto Del Carmen was not for us. So for this reason only we would probably not return but for all you Carmen lovers, give yourself a treat and book this place.

It is why we have returned here many times over the past years. Great pool. Plenty of sun beds. You cannot go wrong. Ok, it is up the main hill from the old town, but we enjoy walking. It may be a struggle to those who do not like walking. But it is a short taxi ride otherwise. We love it here.

I am currently halfway through a two week stay, but I’m able to write a review now, as I feel I have seen all that the Gloria Izaro has to offer. We have come at a quiet time of the year and the hotel felt under occupied, therefore giving us the quiet, relaxing peaceful break we were looking for. Large families or those with children may find it slightly TOO quiet but for those who prefer a relatively childfree experience it is near perfection. The rooms are spacious and fairly modern. Nice to see there is an individual Wi-Fi modem in every room. A must in 2024. You have no problem accessing your Apple TV or fire stick if you bring one, although there is a good choice of English speaking channels on the television anyway. There is a well maintained outdoor pool, although full disclosure: I haven’t used it yet and am unlikely to. There is a large seating area lower down with a number of king size beds, which were available every day free of charge. Maybe their availability was due to the under occupancy or the time of year we visited, but there was no fighting to reserve sunbeds on this trip! There is a very slim entertainment schedule during the day, but there is a singer in the bar around 21:30 most evenings. Nothing special but pleasant enough to listen to whilst you have a beer. We stopped half board so had breakfast and tea, but there is a pool/snack bar offering light snacks during the day which were reasonably priced. (A pint cost €3.50) Of course you’re only a short (hilly) walk away from the heart of PDC where every other shop is bar, cafe or restaurant offering cheap meals at dinner time. Food is generally good, and anyone who has stopped in a hotel half board in the last 10 years knows what to expect- an open buffet where you help yourself to a wide variety of freshly prepared foods. Something not quite your liking? Don’t worry, there’s plenty of choice. We usually have the odd meal out in the evening to break up the repetition of dining in the hotel, but we didn’t feel we needed to do that here. There is little to fault (apart from the dodgy looking orange juice at breakfast!) If you are slightly older without children and you rate peace and quiet among your top requirements, I could give this five stars quite easily. Younger couples or those with children might find it slightly lacking so perhaps they should consider elsewhere. Would I come again? Yes!

Visited early December 2024. Lovely hotel, nicely laid out and very clean throughout. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which overlooked the bar/restaurant/reception area, it had 2 balconies too. Housekeeping was 6 days (not on a Wednesday) and providing a good service. Staff were always friendly and polite including the reception/bar/restaurant. We went half board, the breakfast was a really good spread with hot and cold options. Evening meal was again very good with many hot options aswell as salad bar. - it was only £45 to upgrade to half board from b&b so well worth it - we had 3 or 4 evening meals in the hotel. It is in a quiet location, although our room backed onto an infant/primary school, didn't hear the kids from our room but when out sunbathing and at the school play time you could hear the kids - didn't bother us too much. The hotel is at the top of a big hill, nearest supermarket about 3 minute walk and the main area for the bars/restaurants about 5 - 10 mins for the old town and around 15 - 20 minutes for the start of the strip. Taxis are cheap enough if you don't fancy the walk back. We would happily visit this hotel again, but may prefer a hotel that's inbetween the old town and the strip for a better location.

This was our second visit to The Gloria Izaro Hotel. It did not disappoint. We stayed in room 606 which actually had 2 bedrooms (more storage for us!). The room was clean and decently equipped if you wanted to make your own lunch etc. There is a well stocked HiperDino Shop just a few mins walk away, which is very handy. We did half board, and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and evening meals. We felt there was a good variety and food was of really good quality too. All the staff (the cleaners, cooks, servers, maintenance etc) work very hard and it was much appreciated. A short walk downhill from the hotel and you have a good variety of bars and restaurants. In the busier months though, I hope the hotel does not allow towels to be left on beds (when not being used) as there seemed to be a lot of that going on. However it was a bit quieter for us in December, so not so much of an issue. For walking to The Hotel was perfectly fine for us, but would not suit those with mobility issues as it's up a steep hill. With that said though, we would not hesitate to return!
