We had an amazing time, we were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary, arrival and checking were great, we arrived early so our room wasn't ready but was allowed access to facilities, room was lively and clean with a great pool view, rooms were cleaned everyday, always able to get a sun lounger by the pool, the 2 entertainers were amazing, fantastic with people and good to have a laugh with, the food was amazing, always an option for everyone, shops and beach are just a shortwalk away, we had to check out by 11 but was given complete access to all facilities still as out transfer wasn't till 8.30 pm, weather was amazing, only 1 day where in was a bit chilly, evening entertainment was different everynight buf was great, only Advise would be to bring mosquito spray and cream as it will be needed but the hotel fo sell it if needed. Overall we had a fantastic holiday and didn't want to leave, we will most definitely return.

This ‘All Inclusive’ holiday at Alua Sun Continental did not feel as all inclusive as I would have liked. It all began as we checked in, there is a safe in your room the receptionist told us but you will need to pay €3 per day to use it plus €5 for the key to enable the safe to function. Get out of here! I’ve checked into the scabbiest of hotels in the arse end of China and been able to use the safe that is already installed in the room but on my ‘all inclusive’ holiday I had to pay for use of a safe! Next came the towel saga. I don’t know about you but on an all inclusive holiday I expect to be able to get a towel from the pool side and throw it in a basket to be washed at the end of the day. Oh no, not on this ‘all inclusive’ Here you have to leave a deposit of €10 per towel and pay a fee of €1 every time you want the towel changed. Also, at reception, we were informed of the cup policy. €1 is payable for a small token which can be exchanged for a plastic cup in which all your drinks will be served until 6pm. After 6pm the hotel serve drinks in glasses but only Cava is served in a wine glass. Flat wine of any colour comes in a tumbler. Call me old fashioned but personally I like to drink wine from a wine glass. The buffet leaves a lot to be desired. Most of the food is at best tepid, in some cases cold. There is a variety of food but most of it is pretty standard ‘buffet’ fare. Some nights are themed, Chinese, Mexican etc. The pool is a good size with a separate shallow space for toddlers. There is always space in the pool because it is freezing 🥶 . The pool loungers are plentiful and we never had a problem finding one free at any time of the day, problem is they are quite uncomfortable and of course many people are lounging with no towel as they have refused to pay the €10 deposit 😂. I did however enjoy watching the daily exercise classes and daily water polo matches. The entertainment crew also offered table tennis or darts every afternoon hanging out medals and wine to the winners! If you are booking here I hope you don’t enjoy an early morning swim as the pool does not open until 10am and closes promptly at 6pm so bar staff can hand out glasses instead of plastic cups…..see what they did there 😆. Whilst talking of drinks avoid the cocktails. They are pre made and pulled from a pump behind the bar. I’m not sure that they contain any alcohol and are sweet and sickly, taste suitable for a kids party. Also avoid Alina, the look on her face tells you how much she enjoys her work. She served me half a glass of Cava at a time and believe me there’s not much in a whole glass. Alina find another job as this one clearly brings you no joy at all! I didn’t appreciate the eye rolling when I requested sparkling water 🤷🏻♀️. Talking of water there is no bottled water supplied in the room. Did I say this was all inclusive? If you want bottled water you can buy it yourself from the shop next door or get yourself a glass at bed time from the self serve pump (not sure how often these pumps are cleaned but the water tastes strange……be warned) The rooms are a bit on the tight side. I had to squeeze between the bottom of the bed and the dressing table to reach the bathroom and I am by no means large! Most of the balconies are also very tight. A small table and 2 chairs only and I have seen complaints about the balcony size on trip advisor but we had a corner room on the first floor with a spacious balcony offering 2 loungers, 2 chairs and a table with plenty of room to spare. Good job the week away was a last minute bargain booked by my other half or I would have felt ripped off. As a consequence of being a bargain the weight limit on our case was 15kg. No problem, there is a set of scales in the reception area to weigh your case for the return flight. Oh but wait…..it costs €1 to weigh each case. Did I mention this is all inclusive? 😂🤣 Great for a weeks break in the sun but make sure your expectations are low and you book it at a bargain rate.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay here for 10 days. The hotel itself was very nice and kept very clean and tidy. The staff were excellent (shoutout to the entertainment team - they were brilliant). However, the quality of the food, especially at dinner was very disappointing and NOT 4 star. We were all inclusive but after the first 2 nights at dinner, ended up going out for dinner every night.
