Only classed as 3 star but what a 3 star.Breakfast ,Dinner and Tea there is plenty of selections and very tasty Hotel staff were all fab and always willing to help out or advise and Ampola is the only hotel we have been for years where there is absolutely no rush to get a sunbed .There are plenty and in our week saw no one putting on towels to "save them for later" .Ampola also had televisions where BBC , ITV , 4 and 5 were standard.Situated a little way from the poet of Alcudia but only a short bus ride to there or Can Picifort Downside really was only the evening entertainment .It was not the worst I have seen but it was very far from being the best

This is a really great little Hotel. It’s a bit dated on the outside and therefore probably overlooked in favour of fancier (and more pricier) beach front hotels. But it’s lovely inside, the rooms are small but modern and functional. I was given a room with a lovely lake / Mountain view which was chuffed with. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff worked hard to maintain this. Lake view is very pretty, nice pool area. The guests were mainly German. I met some lovely, friendly people. There were some who were not so friendly, and as a solo guest I found that made me feel a little uncomfortable at times. But that is not the Hotel’s fault, just people being ignorant. My only criticism is that as a vegetarian there could have been vegetarian dishes as there wasn’t much choice. Even the pizza sometimes had ham or meat on it. What food I was able to eat was very good and well seasoned. The staff were lovely, especially the waiting staff (big shout out to Franco who really looked after me). The bar staff remembered your choice of drink after a few days, and so I didn’t even have to ask! Entertainment was ok, an Alicia Keyes tribute on night, and ABBA on another. Sadly I did not get to see this as there were no seats in the bar, but I sat outside and can hear them, they were very good. Nice location, just a few minutes walk to the beautiful beach. Lovely nature park to walk around outside the hotel. All in all, a lovely little 5 night break and decent value for the money.

We booked a last minute break, normally we opt for 5* for our annual holiday. However, as this year we were able to squeeze in a second holiday I looked at other star ratings too, to try and keep the cost down a bit. This wasn't what I would consider a really "cheap week" at nearly £2000 however, I appreciate that it was peak season. Having looked at 4* options, the Amapola had better reviews than a lot of the 4* counterparts for around the same price. So we decided to take a chance and go with 3* Amapola. This is an honest review with positive and negative points from our recent stay. In many ways, this is better than a 3*. However is let down and pulled back to 3* by a couple of things that could be easily changed (in my opinion). It is a small hotel, with a small pool. However the outside area is bigger than you initially think with areas around the Tennis Court and looking at the lake. It is very clean. Everywhere is kept spotless both inside and outside. There was someone power washing all the pool area every morning as well as cleaners keeping inside and toilets clean throughout the day and evening. Staff were friendly and drinks were decent. Cocktails were mainly pre-mixed on the AI package, but they were much better than expected! The spirits were good quality and the vodka we were served was Smirnoff. Food was pretty good and plenty of freshly cooked (while you waited) options at all meal times as well as the buffet options. The cakes/pastries at breakfast were really impressive! Breads etc all freshly baked in the morning. The salad bar was always bothered by little black flies. Particularly the grated carrot!! It put me off using it to be honest so avoided. As a veggie this generally makes up a good percentage of what I’d eat so was disappointed with that. Sun loungers were really good. Looked brand new and plenty of them. Never an issue finding one. Our room (314) was small but spotless and the bathroom was very nice, clean and modern. The beds in the room were terrible! Very uncomfortable. Felt very cheap mattress quality. And they were single beds pushed together, which by morning had drifted apart. There was only one thin pillow provided on the beds, however we asked at reception if we could have extra pillows and a second was sent up straightaway without any issue, which did help. There were duvet's in the wardrobe for if you wanted more than a sheet. The aircon was really old, was fixed wall vents which were off to one side of the room and you couldn't change the direction of the vents so one bed got blasted with the draft when in use. However it did work and did keep the room nice a cool. The walls/ceilings did seem quite thin as there was a lot of noise that could be heard from other rooms. Just general noise, nobody was being rowdy. You could hear voices, moving chairs etc. I could even hear someone snoring in another room close by! Water wasn’t provided in the rooms as part of the AI package. I've never experienced that before. There were fridges in the room to use, but if you wanted water you had to buy it. Though you could ask for a glass of water from the bar to take up with you it would have been nicer to have bottled water in the fridge. The TV in the room was better than we normally see at 5* hotels. It had a selection of channels catering to all nationalities. Was a nice surprise to have British channels! There were a couple of really nice touches at the bar through the day - which I also haven't even seen at 5* hotels. There was self service soft drinks taps to save you waiting at the bar (although there was never a long wait to get served) That was a great idea. You could help yourself to Coke, Coke Zero, Fanta Orange, Fanta Lemon or Soda Water. There was ice and slices of lemon, lime and orange to add too if you wished. Also the snacks on the bar through the day were a nice option. We didn’t try them but they looked good. Though if I was being picky - having the pastries and sandwiches covered to protect from insects would have been better. Entertainment at night was good. We enjoyed it. Totally cheesy a lot of the time but very entertaining. Particularly liked Romantic Drum Sing. He was excellent (and not cheesy!) Use the touchscreen TV in the reception area. It has lots of info about the hotel facilities, what entertainment is scheduled, the weather forecast and things to do in the area. We found it by chance, as reception didn't mention it. It's a great resource so would be nice to be directed to it at check in I think. One thing that I didn't see mentioned when I read reviews was the smell. Not the hotel, the area generally. There is a regular waft of sewage type smell throughout the day. It's pretty unpleasant. It does pass and you kind of get used to it and not notice it so much eventually. Not sure what causes it, but it was noticeable everywhere we went. All in all, we had a nice stay however, the beds would put me off returning if I'm honest as sleep quality wasn't the best for the week we were there.

ONLY WARM !😩 Bacon sausages eggs all need to be “HOT” So disappointed ! Pillows are a little disappointing too. Only 1 in the rooms ! Apart from this everything … more
