“100% will be visiting again”
100% best hotel I have stayed at in Majorca. The staff were incredibly friendly, the room was spotless, and the food and bar service was very very good too… I recommend booking a sea view room, great views of the ocean! Will be visiting again, brilliant hotel.

I went on my hooney moon. Amazing experience everybody was lovely, the room that they book for us was incredible. The facilities were great as well. Its a beautiful hotel. Only two things that I belevie that can make even better the experience, the hotel its half hour from Palmas so you need to rent a car but they dont have a free complimentary parking, you have to pay and it is expensive the last thing, all the employees should speak spanish and sometimes was embarrassing to comunicate with the staff.

Punta del mar, Santa Ponsa is a large, modern purpose built hotel. Set within a few metres of the waters edge every room has a balcony overlooking the sea. The whole building is well maintained and staffed by an efficient team who are without exception polite and friendly. First impressions for us were good but soon the hotel started to take on a “clinical” feel, the all white decor and extreme cleanliness being more reminiscent of a hospital rather than a holiday venue. Dining in the large self-service restaurant was a disciplined affair it’s sole purpose being to feed a large number of people, therefore the experience is more akin to a works canteen as opposed to a place for social activity. Leaving aside the lingual differences there was little or no interaction between guests all seated at their individual tables. Both breakfast and dinner begin with a notice instructing you to wait at the entrance until shown to a table which usually means standing in a queue to be checked in by the supervisors as they call up your mug-shot on a tablet in order to verify your identity. Even several days into our stay the procedure was the same with no allowance for familiarity - “Room number please, follow me sir” to a random vacant table. How much better it would be to be allocated a table for the length of our stay. The variety of food on offer seeks to cater for all tastes and is mostly of good quality with many delicacies. However the choices soon became much of a sameness with only a few changes taking place from day to day. There was slight dismay on the first evening when we asked for some drinking water at the table. “you have to order a bottle sir because its chargeable” was the response. The same rule applies to bottled water in the room which is not the sort of thing I expect on a holiday costing a couple of thousand pounds! Whilst on the subject of dining our experience was marred by too much standing in queues for the various items. As this was said to be “low season” the restaurant seemed to be working at full capacity so I can only imagine what it might be like during “high season” The room was a reasonable size and the decor can only be described as “Spartan” consisting of a hundred percent white emulsion paint. The twin beds had only a single pillow each but another pair were provided after contacting reception. The quilts were of a low tog summer type which some nights were barely adequate. No extra blankets were present and an attempt to switch on the heating by means of a room thermostat resulted only in an audible flow of cool air. The balcony does indeed overlook the sea but the downside is the absence of sunshine until late afternoon because ours and apparently all of the others face due West. It should be noted that the rooms are not fitted with USB phone charging sockets therefore it is necessary to take an adaptor which, fortunately we did. In summary the hotel is scrupulously clean and efficiently run by polite and friendly staff. The location is rather remote the nearest small town, Santa Ponsa, being about fifteen or twenty minutes walk away. This is an unremarkable and quite shabby place consisting of high rise apartment blocks and many closed businesses. Even allowing for the “out of season” time that we were there, many signs of decay were evident. A small man-made beach was for some reason fenced off. Entertainment in the hotel lounge was abysmal but again we were reminded that this is low season. Nor on walking around Santa Ponsa did we come upon anywhere sufficiently inviting to spend an evening.
