Step back in time and stay at The Castlereagh ... Character and plenty of it ! When you enter the Castlereagh Boutique Hotel .... just a couple of dozen meters from St James Station slap bang in the middle of the centre of Sydney city ... you are stepping back several decades to a time of elegance. The establishment has aged gracefully and has some beautiful (and unexpected) features. Chesterfield sofas abound, art decor features dominate, whilst its past connection to The Masonic Club is still very obvious. The Reagh Public Bar is a great start for an elegant relax over the bars 'featured' cocktail. Dine formally in the beautiful Grand Dini9ng Room - Cello's Restaurant - arguably Sydney's finest and grandest dining room. Despite (and likely because of) its age, Castlereagh (it opened in 1927) is very well looked after and maintained throughout. It's also extremely good value ... don't forget your dinner suit ;-) !

The Castlereagh was a very beautiful hotel. We stayed at the hotel for one night. On our arrival, we were told no facilities for a coffee are available , very disappointing and not very welcoming after a 6 hour flight. We felt the staff were quite miserable and again after an evening out, we thought lets have a little drink in the bar, the bar was closed at 9pm. Our experience at this hotel was very disappointed.

Stay here every time when in Sydney. Have made comments of excellence previously. Love the heritage style. Rooms adequate. Have also attended meetings and special events here. Centrally placed for theatre and library. . Unfortunately no forward hint when booking this time that work directly below me would begin at 7. Drilling at 8. Bad luck if sleeping. I was attempting Zoom work meetings. Impossible. One should have been advised in advance. 2 of 3 lifts down. Up to 15 people waiting at a time. 10th floor a bit much for me to dash up the stairs. Disappointing this time.
