The location is a dream for couples that like more privacy, it is a bit remote but to get to paradise you need to travel. My husband mentioned to the waiter that he liked carrot cake and the next day they baked a fresh one for him for breakfast. The entire team was so caring specially the guys at reception which would do anything to make your stay even better. Well done Anima......what a beautiful surprise.

“Piece of heaven on earth”
Great place to relax. Paradise beach. The food is amazing. Also highly recommend the massage from Katyane. She gives massages in front of the sea and it’s really relaxing and calming. Highly recommended

For those who crave isolation and peace and quiet. It's located on the last beach, some 2-3 hours walk from the village, or 30 minutes by hotel shuttle. Surrounded by nature, individual bungalows dot the landscape, 11 in total. Each bungalow is comfortable, spacious and not yet past its glory years. The grounds are untamed, nature being let loose, giving the place a closer-to-nature feel. The restaurant is exquisite, both service and food being top notch. Seriously, congratulations. The bartender can make you whatever drink you want, just tell him the ingredients. Hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel leads directly to the beach, almost secluded were it not for the other top hotel on the island just nextdoor. I would absolutely recommend the place, the restaurant, the bar, the service, everything. We stayed two night there and one night over next door. The main difference is: the other place is newer and double the price. Restaurant: prefer Anima. Staff: both friendly. Bar: Prefer Anima. Bungalow: other place is newer, bigger, better, but double in price. Hotel grounds: Anima is covered in nature, Ioved it. Other one is super well groomed and looked after, but not the in nature feel to it.

This is the place you could call heaven. Nature in total fullness, supreme landscapes, a warm blue beach close by, clean sand, good gastronomy. Staff friendly and well trained. Good cuisine , typical and eclectic food. The hotel offers films dvds, books , day trips , games and you can just enjoy the place . Not near from the center when you can find many bars , loud music , restaurants, drinks spaces but if you want you can reach by free shuttle in a Land Rover from the hotel. Natural swimming pools with many colour fishes, aquatic flora. Don’t hesitate, if you are looking for wonderful beaches , views, see the moon rising drinking a wine...Tips : there is an airplane landing strip nearby hotel if you want to come from Salvador in a small plane or if you are coming by car go to “ Good Garden” berth, leave your car in the parking car private and take the speed boat to Morro de São Paulo. Don’t go to Valença city centre , prefer taking the speed boat in the neighborhood “Bom Jardim” ( Good Garden) , follow the plates to the airport of Valença and you will find it. Enjoy it! You will thank me!

I had booked this LOVELY hotel bc my husband & I, along with a group of friends, were attending a wedding weekend that was taking place in the hotel right next door. It is quite a trek to get to but definitely worth the effort. Once you get to the island via the harbor, we were met with guys with wheelbarrows who carried our luggage through the quaint cobble stoned town. It is one long strip of shops & restaurants, so not difficult to get lost. It is about a 15-20min walk to the tourism center at Beach 2 where the hotel has a shuttle (open air jeeps/trucks) that drive you about another 20mins to the hotel deep into the island. The roads are dirt & bumpy. I was told during dry season it is quite dusty but we were fine. Our group checked in around 7:30pm (much later than expected due to a boat fiasco- fyi, take the ferry or a plane, not a large chartered group boat bc our engine broke down and drifted about 4hrs until a ferry arrived to tow us in). The staff upon check in were lovely. Pretty much the entire front desk staff speaks perfect English which oddly was not the case in some places we stayed in Rio or Salvador. Not that I expect people to speak English but it was a nice surprise that we didn't have to Google translate here. The hotel comprises of a central open air building with the middle section being the front desk & seating area, then to the left the quaint dining area, and to the right a lovely seating area with large comfy white couches. All 3 areas are open to the pool & beach. Behind this building are the cute bungalows; 15 of them. We were in #1 which was red (as they are all different colors). We were the closest to the main common areas (main bldg, dining, pool, & beach). I read reviews that said not to be too close bc you hear the kitchen & staff preparing the morning breakfast but it was not a problem for us at all. I read another review to book a bungalow not too deep into the complex (some are reached by a bridge over a little stream) so you can be closer to everything which is the route we took which worked out well for us since we spent more time on the beach which was past the pool area. Our bungalow that we booked had a whirlpool tub out back in a small deck off the bathroom. It was lovely but we barely used it. The room itself was quite spacious with high ceilings, 2 closets, a safe, fridge, a lovely comfy bed in the middle of the room with mosquito netting, tv, 2 chairs, and a large bathroom. They provide you with soap & shampoo. The bungalow has a deck that is about 4-5 steps up with 2 hammocks which was amazing to lounge in. We felt completely safe & secure here that we never locked our door! FYI- no wifi in the room, only the common areas. Morning breakfast was great & plentiful with eggs, meats, pastries, fresh squeezed juices, coffee, teas, etc. You can also order a few items made to order which I never did bc was quite pleased with the selection provided, but there was one morning that we got to breakfast late & there weren't enough eggs left so my husband ordered scrambled eggs & they made them for him which was great. We had most of our meals here except during the wedding events. We'd order lunch & drinks on the beach (there's a beach/poolside bar) which were delicious. Dinners here were also fantastic!!! Sooo delicious, cooked perfectly, & amazing flavors. They have menus in English & French as well! The meals were all very reasonably priced too. The pool area never had a lot of people around it despite being a lovely area with chairs & some loungers, but with the beach a short distance away, we mostly lounged there. The beach is pretty quiet & secluded. You'd see a few people walk along by or people on horses. Around midday the water really recedes where you can walk a great distance just to get to the water which never really gets deep. One day I had booked a massage which was in one of the covered areas towards the beach. She was a lovely masseur and I had asked for a bit deeper pressure on my neck & shoulders which she did a great job doing. It was about an hour & quite relaxing & reinvigorating. Additionally, there was a very lovely female manager (or owner) there, who spoke perfect English, that was sooo helpful & accommodating. She really went out of her way to make us feel welcomed & comfortable. She'd ask us daily if we were doing ok or needed anything. She really added to the already lovely experience! If ever back to Morro, we would definitely stay here again, in fact, we miss it already coming back to cold & dreary NYC. I would HIGHLY recommend staying here!!!!! You would not be disappointed!
