I stayed 2 nights in this hotel with my 21 year old daughter in the first week in July. It's in a great position, down a beautiful street & a short walk to all the bustling restaurants along the port. The lady at check in was really lovely, friendly & informative (& again when we came back one night wanting a hot drink to take up to bed with us she helped us with this). The rooms were clean & the beds comfortable (I'm a bit fussy when it comes to what I sleep on but I had a great night sleep). We stayed midweek and didn't experience any issues with noise outside. The walls are a little thin and on rare occasions could hear next door but this didn't bother us at all & what this place offered overall more than made up for it. The shower cubicle was small so wouldn't suit everyone. I've been to La Rochelle many times and stayed at various hotels each time depending on who I'm traveling with (as a couple or large group). This place ticked all of the boxes and we weren't disappointed. On another note: I usually take a taxi from the airport but the queue was horrendous and after half an hour we decided to jump on the bus (it was Illico 1b) and it took us only a couple of minutes walk to the hotel from the Dames Blanches/St Nicholas bus stop....for under 2 euros each...so I'd do this again just to save taxi time, regardless of cost. Recommend this hotel....and of course beautiful La Rochelle. Ps. there's a lovely, buzzy restaurant opposite too with yummy food...it was packed so we had to take ourselves off to a nearby bar to have a drink & wait...worth it though as restaurant had great atmosphere. Enjoy!

“Nice location”
The hotel is well located in the bar street near the old port car park. Very friendly and welcoming staff. The room is not very big but it is enough. Beware there is noise every day until 1:30 am because of the bars. For those who are sensitive to noise, a room on the third floor is preferred.

Conveniently located close to the train station (<10 mins walk) and city centre, the hotel is a no frills but clean and comfortable if quirky place to stay. Reception was efficient but beware that there is no lift in the hotel and those with heavy cases must carry them up several flights of narrow stairs and hallways if your room is on an upper floor. Having two cases, I left one with the receptionist whilst I carried the other up to the second floor. For some reason the receptionist brought the other one up for me. She was a small girl and was kindly helping me out but I did feel guilty. The room was small but air con was good. We had a room with a balcony which I recommend asking for in booking. Other reviewers have complained about noise from the street or other rooms and I was worried to discover ear plugs provided free of charge but to be honest, the insulated window kept out most of the street noise and it never bothered me. The room was basic but clean and comfortable although there was no furniture for storing clothes which had to be kept in their case. The bathroom was very small and I barely fit in the shower but I didn’t really feel that was a problem. Air con was excellent. No tea or coffee making facilities. We paid for breakfast which was available in the very small breakfast room. In the end we mostly moved out to a table in the street. I did not like having to negotiate my way around chairs and tables to get to my seat with food in hand. Breakfast was basic and consisted of cold food only bar coffee or tea. Staff were very helpful and were a strong point of the hotel. Altogether, I think the hotel punched a little above its weight and I liked it overall. I would satay there again.

The room was small for 3 people, 3rd bed was blocking door and we had to squeeze through. Not a problem really for us but others may have found it difficult. The shower head was loose and we had to use a clothes hanger to keep it up, but it was hot and powerful enough. Location is excellent, right in the busy heart of town with a really good atmosphere and easy access to the water front. There's no lift and steep stairs. The room was clean and nice enough and the windows opened. The staff were pleasant and the beds were comfortable. A lot of night life right outside. Not the best value for money but generally ok
