Last visited 7 years ago, returned hoping it was still as special and it was, to me everything about the abbey and hotel is special, highlights were being able to explore the Abbey at night, and on my second day when it was closed to the public I was able to take the whole afternoon and have the place to myself, a real privilege. The hotel staff were tremendous and very help to someone who isn’t perfect in the French language. Room was excellent and a great nights sleep, breakfast for me was excellent enough of a choice to be well fed, and dinner on my last night was stunning. I enjoyed being able to make use of the rowing machine down in the fitness room. On the whole after 4 nights I left feeling well cared for, relaxed and recharged.

Late access to the Abbey and the moving remains and effigies of the great Plantagenet Dukes of Normandy and monarchs of England. The breakfast. What quality and choice. 20 euros! Fair price. A coffee is 5 in Paris. More in London now. All locally produced products of fabulous quality. As most things are in the Loire. The brioche. Oh my. From Saumur. Fabulous indeed. Staying here was wonderful indeed. Gardens and hotel are ab pristine and well cared for. As are the guests. Recommend

“A UNESCO listed medieval abbey - hotel”
Located within the abbey the hotel is surrounded by majestic medieval buildings. Our garden suite with a charming view of the garden was perfect. A generous breakfast included gluten free bread rolls. The staff were friendly and most helpful. Only an 8 minute walk to Fontevraud village.

“A fascinating oasis of calm”
Welcoming and helpful staff made this oasis of calm in a historic building a memorable overnight stop for us in the Loire Region. The rooms are basic but very comfortable and the Abbey and its surroundings are made for a fascinating visit

Location is spectacular and the architecture is magical. Very unique. The restaurant is very good for dinner- both food and ambiance The hotel room was average. Bed was uncomfortable and the room needed some tlc. Maybe it was just our room? Hint ; Front desk could give guests more orienta… more

Breakfast was not worth it- poor service, cold coffee and limited options. A few small tweaks and this place would be amazing
