“Great location, relaxed atmosphere and nice breakfast”

I had an enjoyable stay here. Our room had enough space for a 4 day stay. Very clean with nice shower. It would have been nice to have an in room safe and a mini fridge. The free breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, a nice coffee machine and the staff didn’t rush to stop serving which meant we could have a later breakfast. The restaurant does get busy, so better to go early or later. Great location, 5 mins walk to train station (Anhaulter) and from easy to reach the main S Bahn lines making it straightforward to reach from the airport which took about 40 mins. Download the DB and BVG apps for journey planning and tickets. There is a Lidl across the road for supplies. The hotel does have a small shop but this was expensive. There is a nice Italian over the road, it’s nothing fancy but the food was delicious. Not many other decent restaurants close by so I’d recommend heading to Mitte for more choice.

I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn and I probably would stay again if I was in the area. The room was very clean and it was a good size however, I was allocated a bedroom with a wet room bathroom, which I would assume is designed for people who may have a disability. I personally didn't like the bathroom as I found that the entire bathroom floor got wet after a shower, and there was only one towel for your feet, so I had to use an extra towel to wipe the floor after showers so I wouldn't slip. I only stayed here 2 nights so it didn't bother me to much but if I was here for a longer stay, I would prefer a different bathroom. I think the bed should be moved into the middle of the room, especially because there is space to do so rather than being pushed very close to one side to allow a wheelchair user to access the bed from both sides. I am not complaining I am just stating some small potential improvements for the hotel management to consider. I work in a hotel myself, I know exactly what guests are like- but I think constructive feedback can ensure every guest gets the most out of their stay. The staff where friendly and I was very impressed with their English. I enjoyed the breakfast, it was well topped up and the breakfast being served an extra hour on the Sunday was a bonus which I think many people would appreciate. I was only in Berlin for 3 days, I would recommend walking to Checkpoint Charlie as it is only a 10 minute walk away. It takes just under an hour to walk from the hotel to the TV Tower, Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Cathedral etc but these things are all very close to each other when you get there. The walk is fine, I am young and the weather was nice but we got an Uber one day from the hotel to outside the TV Tower and it cost us 15 euro. I also went to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, DeJa Vu museum, the zoo, IKONO and "The Dungeon"- I recommend all these things and seeing all the main sites. I recommend using the app Get Your Guide to book all tickets for things you plan to do. If you are using public transport, make sure to validate your ticket by putting it into the ticket stamper machine beside the machine you buy your tickets. Also make sure you buy the right ticket, as I was fined 60 euro for having a "BC" ticket and not an "ABC" ticket, even though we where only on the train for 3 stops.

HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS BERLIN CITY CENTRE is a nice 3-star hotel conveniently located near Anhalt Bahnhof (S-bahn station) and 10 min walk from Potsdamer Platz (as well as near U-bahn station Moeckenbruecke [From the airport Bus X7 or X71 brings you to U-7 (U-bahn Nr.7)-station Rudow and then drive directly to this aforementioned U-bahn station, near the hotel)] Coming from airport with U7 is convenient (if you do not have a lot of luggage. Alternatively, you take the train FEX from the airport to Hauptbahnhof (Central Train Station) and then Bus M41 to get off very near the hotel (on Willy Bradt bus Stop). The hotel is nice, relatively quiet, clean and safe. The breakfast was really good and included in the price and this was really a major plus for this accommodation. The service of the hotel staff was very good but some employees exceed service expectations as they are highly customer oriented (i.e. friendly, helpful and attentive, e.g. Sabina at the front office). However what I did not like was (i) the lack of refrigerator in the room, (ii) the non-existence of a safe to put passport and money and (iii) the very poor and bad lighting of the room. Besides these remarks the overall satisfaction was generally positive and the value for money good. I would suggest the Holiday Inn Berlin City Center Hotel because I found the location good, the breakfast with good choices, the prices reasonable (as well as competitive) and the service very good.
