We have recently stayed at the Hotel Santo for two nights mainly for the Christmas markets at Cologne. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral/centre down a quiet street of Cologne. We found all staff friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and quite spacious with a nice sized bathroom too. One thing was that we could not regulate the heating in the room (maybe this would be different in the summer). Pillows were very soft but obviously thats a personal preference. The safe in the room was very different as you had to use a credit/debit card to lock it. The breakfast was fabulous - lots of variety and all very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

“Christmas markets”
Just returned from three nights at this hotel. We went by Eurostar from St. Pancras with a change at Brussels. Just returned from three nights at this hotel. We went by Eurostar from St. Pancras with a change at Brussels. We were unfortunate in our journey as there were problems with trains but it was no problem as they laid on coach from Aachen to Cologne. Hotel 10 mins walk from station and cathedral. Lovely breakfast. Staff friendly rooms spacious. Christmas markets are all within walking distance to each other or you can get a little train that takes you to each market.

Great location- only 10 minutes walk to the railway station and only 5 minutes to a large supermarket. The hotel is clean, stylish and the staff are friendly. Great location- only 10 minutes walk to the railway station and only 5 minutes to a large supermarket. The hotel is clean, stylish and the staff are friendly. Our room had a desk, two chairs, coffee machine, minibar and adequate storage space for a short visit. The bathroom was bright and clean. The breakfast had the usual fare of hot and cold foods with fresh breads and pastries. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

This is a quiet decent hotel about ten minutes walk from the cathedral. We found it very convenient to travel as it's close to the rail station and great for the Christmas markets. The atmosphere in the hotel is convivial and the staff are very helpful. The man originally from Tunisia at the front desk was exceptionally friendly and we had a lovely welcome drink of fizz. Room was spacious and nice. The bar is 24 hours and they serve pizza which is useful if you're returning from a night out and fancy some drinks and food! My only quibble is that there are no fresh omelettes or fried eggs served at breakfast. I found this disappointing as I really wanted to order this. The buffet is good though but the hotel should consider making made to order breakfasts possible!

We had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. Great location, only 10 - 15 minutes walk from Cologne station. The room (and bathroom) we stayed in were a good size and had 2 single beds, which is what we wanted. It was quiet and we didn’t hear any other noise from within the hotel. The room has a coffee machine (with 2 coffee pods) but alas, no option for us tea drinkers! There was a mini bar and bottled water available but apart from the water there was no price list for any of the minibar items. Fab smart TV but the only English channels are all news related. On trying to find something else I stumbled upon a Japanese channel that was either in English or subtitled. This had the most eclectic mix of programmes I’ve seen since watching TV on a trip to Cervinia in 1996! Look out for Cat Encounters and 24hrs in a laundromat! If this doesn’t take your fancy you can also play games on the TV (Crossy Road) The hair dryer in the bathroom was a real pain to use. It was very heavy (and I workout at a gym!) and you had to hold down the ‘on’ button all the time to keep it running. The air con was good and certainly needed when we visited as the hot weather was intense. The breakfast was excellent. Loads of choice with hot and cold items, breads, croissants, fruit. Once shown to your table you then help yourself from the selection. Fresh coffee is brought to your table if you want it. Tea is available from the buffet. They have signs up with information about when the breakfast room will be quiet/busy. We went around 8:30 each day and had no trouble getting seated. A shopping street runs parallel to the main road with the hotel. Here you will find a variety of cafes/restaurants as well as a supermarket and bakery. We would definitely consider staying here again if we visit Cologne.
