Initially, I wanted to give four stars because of the location. The hotel is not exactly located in the heart of the city (it's a half-hour walk from the main train station and the dome), and it's on a very busy, noisy street (the windows are marvels of technology that block all the noise, but when you open them ...). But then: the staff is super-friendly, and even in the most busy and hectic phase of check-outs and run-on-the-breakfast, they maintain calm, genuine hospitality, and they make you feel welcome. So because of the great staff: five points. Apart from that, it's what you expect from an ibis: no-frills, clean (except in the immediate entrance area of the room, where the previous guest musst have put their dirty luggage; the weather in Cologne was atrocious, and the stain in the carpet would have needed deep-cleaning and shampooing (probably would have been better design to not have the entrance area carpeted)), hot shower, comfy bed, and overall well-maintained, even though not the most modern property. Nice breakfast selection with good coffee and fun waffle maker, and with friendly, attentive breakfast hosts. Great team!

My son and I shared a twin room for a weekend as a base to meet our German friends. The staff were very friendly and spoke good English (as my German isn’t great). Check in was easy as I had done the online check in the day before. Our room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. It was small but as we used it for sleeping and showering it did the job. We paid for breakfast and there was a wide variety of options. Would recommend. Parking was €30 from Friday to Sunday and using the satnav it was easy to find. There is a lift from the car park to reception. It was a 15 minute walk into the Old Town which has plenty of bars and restaurants. We will definitely use again when we come back.

“Great for an Overnight Stay”
Booked this hotel for the night that Scotland played Switzerland in the Euros . Nice clean hotel and easily accessible from Colognes main attractions. The room was small but was fine for just one night. Very helpful and friendly staff. Would stay here again.

“Budget hotel but decent breakfast”
This is a average hotel, it's budget friendly. Bed mattress is wafer thin, only one charge point in awkward place, WiFi doesn't really work in rooms and bathroom is like a pod. Reminds me of university rooms. Breakfast is actually good with decent choice. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
