This was our first hotel in Germany for 2 nights during the Christmas markets. Check in was smooth, had luggage storage and our bed was very comfortable. Those reviews complaining about the age of the hotel/furniture/floors/carpets are checking into the hotel for the wrong reasons and need to go down the road to a brand new Holiday Inn or the like. Everything was well thought out, the room was comfortable and had the most gorgeous view of the Valley. We were in a tower room and absolutely loved coming back to our room at night to sleep. This hotel is an older hotel and that was the charm of it for us-everything in it was in perfect condition. No worn carpets, stains on furniture or bedding and everything in our room functioned as it should. The common spaces to relax, play games with the kids, read a Germany Guidebook (in the lounge!), or just sip coffee were lovely. We had zero complaints. Staff was friendly and helpful in finding things to do. The location is spot on for anything in the city. You walk out and take 20 steps to the Plonlein which is on your same street. The main square is the opposite direction. Walking distance to this hotel from any of the major points so no car required, but I did hear her direct to their parking a few times to other guests checking in. We did not have a car so can't comment on the distance to it, but I do know it exists. Streets in my opinion are very narrow/slow driving and parking on streets is extremely limited and generally for those that live and work here. We walked to and from the train station-about 15 minutes using Google Maps. On cobble streets so if you are not a walker/don't like pulling your luggage over the cobbles, you need to schedule your train during the hours that the taxi service runs. We left the hotel at 6:15 a.m. and taxi's were not running at that time so we hoofed it. It wasn't bad at all. Lovely to view the city in the dark and while the tourists are still tucked away sleeping. Highly recommend this place and we will be back once the weather warms so we can explore the town further.

“Nothing But Love for this Historic Hotel”

I agonized for weeks over choosing the perfect hotel for our two night stopover in Rothenburg on our anniversary trip. I ultimately decide on The Goldener Hirsch and have no regrets about it. It is an old hotel, but with modern bathrooms. I love all the open spaces for lounging in the hotel. The absolute highlight, though, was the included breakfast in a little corner seat of The Blue Terrace overlooking the Tauber River Valley! We were here during Christmas Market time and could walk to and from the Market easily and often to warm up! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, too. We already looked up dates we might return because this has been our favorite hotel of our trip!

We had a night in Rothenburg as been wanting to visit this little town for so many years. I couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. We arrived by car and the hotel has a spacious car park that was easy to find. It's a short walk with your bags (less than a minute) to the hotel. It couldn't have been a better location. Situated right outside Plonlein and perfect distance to walk to all the attractions in town, we had a lovely stay. When we arrived, we got kindly upgraded to the best room in the hotel. All I can say is WOW. The views from the balcony terrace overlooking the valley were spectacular, I enjoyed my early morning cup of tea on the balcony listening to the birds and peace of the valley. The bed was spacious and comfy, and the shower was lovely too. The room was huge and very clean. The staff were really nice and patient with my rusty German language skills. Breakfast was included, and we headed down to the best breakfast view. The room overlooks the valley, and it was just wonderful enjoying a nice breakfast. A good selection of continental breakfast foods. I'd definitely stay here again when I return to Rothenburg in the future! Great value and a memorable experience! Danke schön!

“Beautiful boutique hotel”
Delightful hotel in the center of old town Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Beautiful rooms. Very clean. Breakfast was very nice and had a sweeping view. If you take the train it’s a 15 minute walk because the train station is outside of the old town. Definitely recommend.

As someone who appreciates honest reviews on Trip Advisor, I have good things and okay things to say about this property. This is the second time that I have stayed here, and many years have passed between visits. Rothenburg o.b. T is one of the most visited towns in Germany so these properties are in constant demand. With that understanding, the good things include a property that is very clean, a perfect location in Old Town, extremely convenient private parking only feet away from the hotel, and a lovely breakfast in a room with a spectacular view. The okay comments -our room was to be air conditioned, and it was not available. The furnishings were fine, but the room could have used a fresh coat of paint. The bathroom was very small and only had the very basics. Maybe it was just our room. I know it could have been better!
