“Wonderful hotel in a great situation”
We have been using this hotel for sixteen years. The previous visit we felt it wasn't up to scratch. That was not the case this time everything was perfect. All the staff are helpful and friendly. For us it is ideally situated, with great views.

Excellent hotel. Staff really friendly and accommodating. Allowed us to check in early. Both rooms, a double and twin were gorgeous. The decor is in keeping with the style and age of the hotel so if you’re expecting modern find an alternative. The hotel features some really nice touches such as the stained glass ceiling. The hotel is clean and the rooms were cleaned twice per day. You also receive complimentary colas and water in the mini fridge each day, totalling 8 per day which is excellent. The beds were really comfortable and had such a nice sleep each evening. The bathroom was huge with a good selection of toiletries. Good selection of English channels on the tv too. Only used the spa facilities once and they were lovely and well kept. Unfortunately the saunas were out of use when we went. Never ate in the restaurant as wanted to use different restaurants around the city. The bar and restaurant area was again immaculate. We did have coffee and tea in there and they added extra touches such as a mini pastry to the tea to show why they are 5 star. I would certainly stop here again if visiting Amsterdam and highly recommend. I cannot understand negative comments. You are receiving a better level of service and accommodation for little more in cost compared to other hotels in the city.

The hotel sits about a 10 min easy walk from the train station and is impressive inside and out. Welcoming reception staff who held our luggage. Feels like a maze with beautiful high ceilings and architecture. Our room was huge and so was the bathroom. The bed size, duvet and pillows gave us the best sleep ever! This is a 5 star historic hotel, if you want modern it won’t be for you but you will be missing out. Our stay included use of pool, sauna, steam and jacuzzi. Plus bath robes, slippers and daily stock up of 4 x soft drinks/waters in fridge as well as tea/coffee and stroopwaffles! Lived this hotel and made our stay even better. Would highly recommend and return to.

My stay at the Grand Amrath Hotel Amsterdam was a mixed experience. While the bar staff were excellent and welcoming, the front desk staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful, which was disappointing. Breakfast was of good quality, but service was noticeably slow, which wasn’t ideal for busy mornings. The biggest issue was noise—I stayed in room 33 on the ground floor, which faced a bus stop directly outside the window, leading to constant street noise. To make matters worse, hotel guests were shouting in the hallways late at night and even trying room doors, making it hard to get a decent sleep. On the positive side, the hotel is well-located, close to the station, and convenient for exploring central Amsterdam. However, I’d strongly recommend requesting a quieter room if you plan to stay here.
