“Stay at this hotel - charming rooms, great location, FANTASTIC HOSTS!”

This hotel is AWESOME! We stayed 3 nights and can't wait to go back! The room was spacious, comfortable and charming. There's also a big roof top patio that all guests can use, big enough if you want privacy, but also an easy way to connect with other guests if you want to socialize. The hosts are FANTASTIC! Carmel was particularly warm and welcoming. She invited us for cake and champagne to celebrate her birthday. When I got a stomach bug, she even made me home-made chicken soup! The location is great, too, on a quiet street yet just 10 minutes to the train station and a short walk to all the sights like the Academia (statue of David) and the Duomo. It's worth going to Florence to stay at this hotel!! When you go, please tell Carmel that Eleanor says Hello and I hope to return soon :)

“Lovely clean Hotel, fantastic hosts!”
HOTEL IL BARGELLINO is in a good central location and has the nicest, sweetest hosts! The rooms are big and the bathroom was huge. It was an easy walk to see DAVID and there were a lot of nice restaurants in the area. Highly recommended.

It was so nice to be able to sit and relax and enjoy looking at all of their lovely lemon trees while sipping my espresso or a glass of wine! Carmel and Pino are warm and welcoming. It was wonderful just chatting with them throughout our stay. The hotel is charming, small and extremely clean. The location is wonderful - the train station is a short walk and all the attractions are easily accessible from their location. There are excellent restaurants in the area. Carmel recommended one to us which ended up being our favorite place to eat. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and look forward to staying there again some day!

Charming interior in this centuries old building. Close enough to the train station but not so close that you have to deal with the riff raff that typically hang out around European train stations. Bargellino is a budget hotel so don't expect a 5 star experience. That said there are a couple of things the owners could do that would enhance the property and wouldn't cost much. The mattresses are hard as a rock so if that's important you should stay elsewhere. The towels and pillows are also substandard. Ownership could invest in better bedding materials and linens. It wouldn't cost that much but would really improve this property.
