We booked a quad room for a couple of nights in this hotel. We had two separate rooms within the apartment. The operations were mainly run by a small family. They were attentive to our requirements and were helpful with practical information about the surroundings. The hotel was reachable within a few minutes walking distance from Genoa Principe station. The room was spacious enough for our family and the amenities were well-maintained. There was a gym with basic equipment enough to train and keep fit. Breakfast was basic but adequate for the price paid. The lift was installed during the olden days but fully functional to fit an average-sized person as the double-doors could be tricky. Just a suggestion for improvement: the TV size could have been a little bit bigger.

We stayed at Hotel Cairoli with my wife for two nights in a "Double COMFORT MATRIMONIALE QUEEN SIZE BED", in room number 16. The room has just enough, with a small desk and chair, a very small wardrobe with 6 low-quality plastic hangers. It also has an electric kettle and a small flat-screen TV. One very positive aspect is that the hotel is located in a very central area, close to the port and many of the city's main attractions, making it accessible via a pleasant walk. It is located on a pedestrian street. If you decide to visit the city by car, you can only access the front of the building for a few minutes to unload your luggage. It is an old building with a very special elevator, which can be very uncomfortable for some, particularly when arriving and departing with luggage. There is no parking, but they have an agreement with a garage for a daily cost of € 18.00. They offer a buffet breakfast outside the daily rate for € 8 per person. We did not use it, so we cannot provide information about it. There is a supermarket on the corner a few meters away for any needs that may arise. In summary, it is a very simple hotel, at a reasonable cost for the area, very well located, and meets the basic necessities.

The hotel is on the 3rd floor and the ancient lift is a horror, you have to open the door, struggle through 2 small doors with your luggage, then close the outer door. When you arrive at the hotel floor, don’t forget to close the outer door of the lift, else other people have to use the stairs, it happened to me twice, that’s total 14 stairs. My room was small, bathroom even smaller, both smelled a bit musty. Not the value for money I expected.

“Good employees, average rooms”

This hotel is well located to visit the Genoa aquarium, and within walking distance of the city center. The room was clean and overall OK, but it had a couple of weaknesses that make it more like a 2.5-stars rather than a 3-stars: the shower was tiny so it was hard not to bump in the walls, you could hear everything happening in the street (meaning the glass of the windows was too thin), there was air conditioning in the main room but not in the second one, there was no lock to close the bathroom. The breakfast was great, with lots on offer and very flexible, especially given the Covid conditions.
