Good location as you could walk easily into a Parnell where there were plenty of nice bars and restaurants to choose from. I’d stay there again anytime.

Situated as the name suggests, next to the beautiful Parnell Rose garden. About a 30 minute walk from Britomart train station or 10 minutes on the 755 bus. Check in, was a strange affair, the young lady clearly missed the charm school bit of her training as we found her quite sharp and abrupt, however I will say, most, if not all of her colleagues did attend. But I will say, “first impressions are lasting.” The room, on the ground floor, so subject to a bit of road noise, was large and airy, nice big, bed, but as seems normal in NZ, slightly soft. The shower/wet room was nice and large, but strangely a large step to the shower. The tv had many channels, which included sports channels. Breakfast was a buffet, with a typical, NZ/Aus selection of tinned pears & peaches, but also included fresh fruit, yogurts, bread, pastries etc… hot food included sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs hash browns and and orientalist selection. Fried and poached eggs available to order. One other frustrating incident, on one day, our rooms not serviced, we’d left the towels on the shower floor, so couldn’t really re-use them, also, we’d used the coffee cups and glasses. We reported this to the reception, who apologised and said they be up shortly… they weren’t, so we took the used towels, cups and glasses to reception on our way to the restaurant. Upon our return, they still weren’t replaced, we had to remind them, when they were replaced, the cups and glasses were not. Again, another trip to reception. Evening meals at the restaurant were good value and well prepared, and the waiter (didn’t get his name, but should have done, tall with moustache and long hair in a ponytail) gave great customer service.

Had a room at the front looking out over the Rose Garden opposite there is some noise from the activity out side as quite a few coaches stop of to let people wander round the garden. The room was ok and we found the beds comfortable, there was about a ten inch step up in to the shower that was a bit worrying when you stepped out with wet feet even with a bath mat on the floor however they have fixed a long bar to the door to hold on too, odd design for a shower tho, also the toilet is too close to the wall and you have to sit facing between one and two o’clock that is also a silly design as the bathroom has quite a large sink on that wall it would be far better to have a smaller sink and move the toilet over a bit. The plumbing was noisy too you could here waste water draining away out of the flood drain in the bathroom even when watching the Tv. Oddly no Loo brush – but noticed the maid had one on her trolly !. The Food was ok and the restaurant staff were fine. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear the people in the next room quite clearly and you can hear the doors closing in the hallway to as people leave as you cant hold down the handle to close them on leaving.

I was in room 230, which was incredibly noisy. From 4.45am I could hear a large group gathering to get on their tour bus. After being kept awake by people returning late at night and hearing every word as they came back to their rooms this was not the ‘sleep’ I had hoped for. The hotel is recently renovated but parts of the room are already showing signs of wear, such as the tea and coffee area where the particle board is starting to peel. The bathrooms are modern and fresh and the beds are comfortable
