What a beautiful hotel. Our room was lovely, breakfast was delicious. Attentive, polite staff. We loved the area also. I really want to commend the reservation desk after their unbelievable help. I had a fall earlier spraining both feet on the way to a Flamenco Show, we then did dinner at a small Tapas restaurant, I was with my travel group. Being in much pain not thinking I left my wallet with all my cards, passport & cash on the counter. Back at hotel I realized it was missing, the men at at reception took over. They worked desperately to find the restaurant & after a while found it, called, they had my wallet. They then arranged a special driver to take my friend to retrieve it. I cannot thank them enough as they all went above & beyond to help me. This staff is the kind you want to have not just for your stay but for special circumstances that might occur. We loved Barcelona & I hope to go back in the future.

We had an absolutely delightful 4 night stay at Lamaro Hotel at the beginning of January. From the moment you step inside, it's welcoming. The reception is lovely and bright, we checked in quickly and went up to our room on the 4th floor. The corridors are all carpeted so it's lovely and quiet as was our room, considering it's so centrally loated we didn't hear a thing, our room was on the side of the hotel so that might be why. The bed linen is excellent quality (we would have liked feather pillows though, but they aren't available), the bed was comfy, and we both had great sleeps throughout our stay. Great shower, lovely toiletries. You don't often see doormen in hotels these days, but they have them in the Lamaro, all so helpful, even to non guests stopping to ask them questions - in particular Annouar who was always so friendly and welcoming (if anyone is a fan of the Netflix series Virgin River - he looks like Preacher!). He had a smile and a welcome every time we saw him. Breakfast is very nice with loads of choice all laid out beautufully, and the best hotel toaster ever! The Rooftop bar is a must - even just to pop up for a quick drink. It's run separately to the hotel, it gets very busy and you can't book, but we found all the staff really helpful and accommodating. They have an outside terrace bar, although it was a bit too cold when we were there, it must be lovely when it's warm, great for people watching. We love a hotel bar but the one inside was a bit disappointing, it's where you have breakfast and still has a breakfast room feel with little atmosphere. However, you are so well located it's easy to find bars nearby. All in all, we had a wonderful time, we felt rested, and the sightseeing was easy because of the central location. I would highly recommend Lamaro, the staff, the facilities, the location are exceptional. We will be back!

Lamaro Hotel (fka Hotel Colón) is an outstanding establishment. My wife and I were in Barcelona for our 25th wedding anniversary, while also on business. We experienced wonderful staff, setting, and experience. Bravo to María Jesús (dining service), Abdullah (help with taxi service), and Zhor (identifying Tchaikovsky's Pas de Deux) for their excellent service. The proximity to and view of Barcelona Cathedral provided for an enchanting stay.

“Lovely hotel, fabulous location BUT if you’re a light sleeper take ear buds!”

Hotel is lovely, fantastic location and friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was good but the room was chilly so we asked staff to close the doors which then warmed the room up. Now a word of warning if you’re a light sleeper….. There’s double glazing which reduces the noise from the busy square… more

Hotel is lovely, fantastic location and friendly staff. Breakfast buffet was good but the room was chilly so we asked staff to close the doors which then warmed the room up. Now a word of warning if you’re a light sleeper….. There’s double glazing which reduces the noise from the busy square outside (buskers/musicians play late into the night and the cathedral bells ring every 15 minutes) but the walls are paper thin and we had a gap around the room door, so were disturbed by other guests. We could hear guests talking in the corridor and one night was woken at 3am by a couple in the next room, who spoke so loud we could hear every word they said and then had to listen to them having sex! The follow night I slept with tissues in my ears. I mentioned the lack of sound proofing to the reception and was told ‘it was an old hotel so it can’t be improved’ and they would inform the hotel manager. The hotel has 2 very small lifts, and a queue forms outside the hotel for non guests to go up to the roof top bar. They then use the lifts resulting in guests having to wait for a lift to become available. We booked a queen bed but had 2 single beds pushed together with separate bedding. When I queried this with reception i was told that lots of guests like separate bedding, particularly the Japanese. So if you would like a queen bed, made as a double with the same sheets, email the hotel prior to your arrival to request the bed is made that way. Nice bathroom, lovely toiletries, powerful shower with very hot water and nice white towels. USB port was at the table by the kettle. Luckily I had a 3 meter charging cable so it reached the bedside table. Only English speaking TV channels are news channels. Taxi rank right outside the hotel, we used taxi’s several times and found them very reasonably priced. If you use the Aerobus to/from the airport, the bus stop is just a 5 minute stroll away from the hotel, which is extremely handy. Would I stay again… yes…..but would pack ear buds for sleeping!
