If you want to stay where you are treated like royalty then ping nakara is the place for you . from the moment you arrive to the moment you say farewell you are treated like a long lost friend. we stayed in a grand deluxe double and it was very luxurious , spacious and comfortable . breakfast next to the pool had plenty of choices. when we returned in the evenings we sampled a few cocktails, the barman definitely knows his trade . they were amazing . we don't want to leave this little piece of heaven and return to the u.k. 😔 all the staff make this a very special place ❤️

“a small luxury hotel for guests who enjoy comfort, high quality service and warmth.”

The hotel is a true "boutique hotel"; it is of a reasonable size, well designed in the elegant Thai style. It is well located, in a quiet area of Chiang Mai. It is far enough from the tohu-bohu of the city, close enough to reach the city centre conveniently in a short time by tuck-tuck or taxi, or in a comfortable walk of 20 minutes. The hotel also provides free transport to the city centre in a vintage Mercedes that is a wonderful experience in itself. There are restaurants of various quality around the corner in addition to a wonderful daily night market, which provides not only artisanal items but also a diversity of souvenirs and many food stalls. All staff is exceptionally professional, friendly and helpful at all times. We were treated with courtesy and respect from our arrival to our departure, each staff member was generous in making our stay most comfortable, which did not mean to go beyond the obvious to made us feel welcome. The rooms are well appointed, a little outdated in their decoration maybe, but the Thai flair was everywhere, which we personally appreciated, given our wish to experience the culture rather than international atmosphere. We sincerely valued the comfort, the cleanness, the equipment and the view from the balcony. The king bed was very comfortable, bedlinens, towels and bathrobes of very good quality. Breakfast was served, both buffet and menu, providing a range of food, both Thai and international. We do not share some reviews on internet that complain about the lack of diversity; we enjoyed every of our 10 breakfasts and never felt that anything was missing. The bar is worth a visit, inside and outside on the veranda; it is very well decorated and the range of drinks on offer is generous. There is a friendly and experienced tour operator on site. We booked a tour with him and were not disappointed: while using a common itinerary, it also provided us with some extras upon our request; it was not cheap but worth it. We liked everything in fact. Nevertheless, we can provide some areas for improvement: The swimming pool is well presented and clean. However, it does not benefit from the sun and the water is very cold. A cold plunge is nice after a long day of sightseeing, but this was too cold for us. In addition, the lounge chairs should be provided with comfortable mattresses. When it comes to the restaurant, guests must book 24 hours in advance and select from 3 or 4 menus at the time of the booking. Room service is closed after 4.30pm. While the context of the limitations is understandable, and there are many restaurants around the corner, we’d loved to eat lightly at the hotel on some evenings rather than walking to restaurants outside.

The breakfast selection was smaller than some of the hotels we visited in Thailand but that does not mean it wasn't impressive and all the produce there looked fresh and inviting. Hot food orders were cooked on demand. We ate in the hotel restaurant once during our three night stay and it was very good quality and value. This is a great choice for anyone who wants to be 5 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai but in a quiet and serene location. The staff were very courteous and helpful throughout our stay.

My husband and I spent a week at Ping Nakara in early November. We loved this hotel and felt that we were staying in a grand but very hospitable home rather than a hotel. Our room was quiet, very comfortable and spacious and overlooked the pool. The breakfasts were delicious with the best quality fruit and hot dishes. The complimentary rides into the nearby old quarter in the vintage Mercedes were a treat. Very highly recommended.

This was our second visit to the Ping Nakara. The first being 5 years ago. Pros: Beautifully building Lovely pool Lots of places for a quiet read or drink Super breakfast with cooked to order options from an a la carte menu Friendly and very helpful staff Large, spacious bedrooms Very clean Cons: Quite a walk from the walled old city of Chiang Mai but tuk tuks are readily available and cheap Rooms could do with a freshen up. They were doing this whilst we were there to be fair but ours was a little tired, especially the bathroom area. Common areas also need a coat of paint in places We were caught up in the start of the floods affecting Chiangmai and the owner moved us on our last night to an apartment he operates as an Airbnb as it was likely we wouldn’t be able to get to the airport to catch our flight the following day. As it was it took a 4X4 to negotiate the flooded roads. All the staff were great and promptly dealt with the situation in order to keep us safe.
