“Excellent family run hotel”
Yet again we had an excellent stay at poppies. The hotel has a high standard of decor and is extremely comfortable. It’s a family run concern and the owners and staff are friendly and inviting and produce a breakfast to die for. I would not hesitate in recommending if in the Callander area.

“Great place, everything you need, awesome breakfast.”
Very nice place with the best breakfast I had in a long time! The room is nice and clean. Everything you need is present. I like their safe-the-planet attitude. Also easy to find and you can park right in front of the hotel. Definitely a big recommendation!

Poppies is a guesthouse set back from the main road of Callander, within convenient reach of the centre and run by a husband and wife. It has a bar open for guests a few hours each day. The service is friendly and personal. Our room, which I think ranked as “superior”, was front-facing and in good condition. It was large, with plenty of storage space, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also good-sized, with an over-bath shower. A tendency to steam up (despite a fan) could be readily cured by opening the window slightly. The breakfast was particularly good. It needed to be ordered overnight, but as a result it came fresh, hot and well-presented. This is another example of what a good B&B should be.

We've travelled to Callander many times and not actually stayed but we felt we needed to stay a night after a long drive home from the Hebrides. Arriving late, we got a lovely welcome from the owner and shown to our lovely rooms. It was so comfortable and spacious with lovely views and quiet, too (even on a Saturday). The bed was large and comfortable, thick towels, lovely shower and toiletries, tea (and herbal), coffee, hot chocolate. Breakfast was faultless with loads of choice from the buffet if you could manage more - fruit, cooked breakfast with haggis, eggs, cereal, porridge, fresh fruit juice and more. Poppies was well situated to walk into town along the cycle path - really pleasant. We're definitely going to stay here again, but for longer next time.

The location was perfect for day trips to other sites and several visits to the Hairy Coos (Cows). The rooms are spacious with updated bathrooms, very comfortable. The town is with walking distance from the Inn and have some lovely restaurants and bread shops.
