Earlier this year, I reserved a night at Aston's Apartments for December 2014. I really liked this place when I stayed here previously and looked forward to my stay next month. Unfortunately, I was contacted last week and told that the buildings had been bought out and they are cancelling all reservations. Sad for me, but Ross at Refresh Accommodations has handled the communications very well and offered to assist in getting a place elsewhere. I'm not quite sure that would have happened elsewhere and feel that I could have easily been stuck without a room.

The only uncomfortable thing - there is no elevator (our room was on the upper floor, but it was our choice).

“Convenient and Clean”
I stayed almost 7 days in Aston. Rooms are clean everyday and the small kitchenette is handy. Very practical set up. Lack of "lift" can be a concern if you have heavy baggages. Else, you get what you paid for.

A triple room with kitchenette at ca £140 per night for two weeks is hard to find in South Kensington area. Pretty convenient location. A few minutes from Gloucester Road tube station, not for from South Kensington station too. £16 for wifi for two weeks, unlimited number of devices. Tiny shower room not for those of a bigger size. Good lighting in the room. I booked the room through a hotel booking website in two bookings for the whole period of stay (due to operation of that website, nothing to do with the hotel), where first booking was one night only. When I subscribed to the wifi at the reception on day 2 evening, staff on duty told me that I have not paid for the previous night. I told her that I paid for the whole period and in fact emailed a week ago, with payment receipts, to the hotel requesting for the same room for thr whole period of stay (in two bookings). With a click or two, she said payment has been made (so it was not that difficult to check?). I checked out on Sunday and asked to extend the check- out time to 12pm, i.e. one hour later than the standard 11am. I planned to attend mass at a church nearby, ending around 11am, then check out to go for lunch before leaving London. Staff at reception said that some refurbishment works had been scheduled and all guests had to move out by 11am, and offered to keep my luggage. I reiterated my request twice and she finally agreed that I can check out by noon the latest. Starting time-critical refurbishment work midday Sunday? Does not sound common to me for London. She did not even ask for my room number. Also, staff expected £50 cash deposit for each room key (£150 for three keys as we were in a triple room). After some discussion, she agreed to take an imprint of my credit card without charging as deposit. Overall, cannot ask for more about the room at this price, and an interesting level of service. Would be interested to try out others next time.

I spent almost 10 days in Astons apartment. I had a single room, in the second floor. I had read in the reviews that the hotel doesn't have elevators, so I asked for a room in lower levels. But at the best you should expect at least 30 Steps. The room was extremely small , with a Kitchenette (and a really noisy fan). The bathroom was a really small ready-made Bathroom cabinet. I think that is because the room was too small, and it was not planned to be a hotel room at the first place. The bathroom does not come with shampoo or conditioners, just a small piece of soup+ towels, ( So bring whatever you need). The bed's had a really uncomfortable old innerspring mattress. But It seems that my other colleagues in the twin rooms didn't have such a problem. On the positive side, the room was cleaned on a daily basis and it had a nice balcony to the outside. The rooms has Iron, hairdryer, fridge, microwave and a kettle with some kitchen utensils. The location is good, it is close to the Gloucester Road Tube, so you can access wherever you want easily. The staff was nice and helpful, but the reception is just available between 8:00 am, and 8:00 Pm. So if you plan to arrive late, definitely make sure to contact them first. The apartment doesn't serve any type of food (not breakfast or..). and the rooms doesn't come with the Internet either.
