We stayed here at the IHG Exeter Holiday Inn Express Exeter East, EX1 3PE over the period 06-10 February 2025 (we stay up to 3 timed a year). The Hotel is kept in a good condition (less the dirty car park) shared with the Miller & Carter nearby. Check-In was smooth & efficient by Joby. The Car Parking machine is now inside the Lobby. As part of the Check-In we were given a Discount Code for the Parking. With the Discount code it's still £6:00 per 24 hours (without the code it's £12:00 per 24 hours. This is a nifty piece of PR trying to make you believe you've got a discount! However, the car parking should be part of the room rate). Upon entering our room the light nearest the door wasn't working. This was reported & a promise that Maintance would deal with it on the Friday. This was in fact so, undertaken by Stuart most efficiently & politely. The rooms are in good condition, well maintained & clean, with Housekeeping doing their bit (same pleasant & efficient staff here too). Breakfast was good & sufficient. I noticed again that the Hotel Manager Alex Marsden was leading by example, not only ensuring the hot plate was replenished, but also clearing away used plates etc. His example was followed by the Reception Staff besides those who's primary job it is. You generally never see the Hotel management setting an example & getting their hands dirty. IHG please note & take positive action. We would like to thank Matteo, Matt & especially Ben for their friendly, efficient & caring customer service. We noticed the same staff faces, which says a lot for retention, which is good for the customers. Our request for an additional duvet was met without question & it was delivered promptly. We know it's a HI Express so the Lunch & Dinner Menu is basic (does need expanding). The food ordered was delivered promptly & hot (unlike the Miller & Carter next door!). We will be staying again & look forward to this pleasant HI Express Exeter East & it's brilliant staff. Thank you Alex, Matteo, Matt, Ben & Stuart.

“Ideal overnight stay”
We stayed for 1 night, before going on holiday from Exeter Airport. It was quite easy to find and we did see it from the main Honiton Road/ A3015 but needed to drive pass then take the first right up the hill. Plenty of parking for an overnight charge of £5.00. We stayed for 1 night, before going on holiday from Exeter Airport. It was quite easy to find and we did see it from the main Honiton Road/ A3015 but needed to drive pass then take the first right up the hill. Plenty of parking for an overnight charge of £5.00. Friendly greeting at reception and allocated a room on 2nd floor. Very pleased with the room, which was at the back looking over a river, really comfortable bed and a smart bathroom. Tea/coffee in room and you can help yourself to replenish by the reception. Breakfast was included but we had to leave before it opened, so we were provided with a carry out of fruit and pastries. In the morning, it took about 10 minutes to drive from the hotel to Exeter Airport. Would definitely stay here again.

“Don't eat here...”
The room is really far,I have visible mobility issues. On first night reception staff very helpful in helping us find somewhere to eat. The staff today either couldn't be bothered or just wanted to lie. Couldn't find anywhere to eat that wasn't bar food. Don't eat in the hotels food, we waited app… more

The staff today either couldn't be bothered or just wanted to lie. Couldn't find anywhere to eat that wasn't bar food. Don't eat in the hotels food, we waited approximately minutes for chicken wings and a burger. The wings were inedible too overcooked and very spicy. I specially asked for not spicy. Husband got a tasteless patty and raw chips. All round not too good .had to ask for a towel then housekeeping not coming.
