I'm very lucky to have The Club so close to my home. The facilities are clean, modern and normally not too crowded. All the staff make both my daughters and myself feel very welcome with every visit. They are helpful and attentive. Special thanks to the very lovely Lisa and Harry, who have been supportive of my progress and often provide very useful assistance. I could not ask for a better place to be a member. 5* seems not enough.

“The Club at Crowne Plaza Plymouth”
Awesome experience especially The Club health club - in particular with Lisa and Bella and Pavel. And Jessica in the cafe lounge. A smallish gym with 2 rooms and all the basics you need and where you don’t need to wait for machines and the pool and steam lovely

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Plymouth for a conference and had a really good experience. The gala event was well-organised, and the hotel facilities worked well for the occasion. We dined at their Marco Pierre White Restaurant on the first evening, where my meal was delicious. However, my husband’s burger was not so great, which was a little disappointing. The service was good, and the atmosphere was nice. Breakfast was great. Overall, the stay was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay and dine again, hubby would just choose something different from the menu.

“A good value hotel….apart from the poor maintenance, dodgy food and lack of forward planning.!”

This Hotel is a Strange amalgam - Our room was spacious, had a comfortable King Size Bed and a comfortable Sofa for reading the paper; it’s bathroom lacked thought, it had a small bath difficult to access due to the fixed, in bath, shower screen, it had no extractor fan so the Luke-warm water caused everything to attract condensation….. and no underfloor heating so one’s feet froze after a shower. Strangely the water over the basin was scalding hot🤷♂️. This contradictory room had peeling paint in the bathroom and flickering “mood lighting” under the waist high shelf. We had booked a meal at the Marco Pierre White branded Restaurant for the first evening …. and because we were in a group had to choose our food two or three weeks before the event ! My “Pink” Lamb Rump consisted of two medallions of meat ( each about 40mm in diameter) that were so over cooked and hard that the knife wouldn’t cut them ….. this dish at £27 on the menu came with a similar sized potato on patty which was 2mm thick and a large amount of French and broad beans (which, strangely, appeared on the cooked breakfast buffet the next day)! We had a gala dinner the following evening…… the unusually textured Chicken was served on cold plates, with acceptable vegetables and, strangely, most left the chicken ( not wishing to risk it!) . The vegetarians amongst us were served a gnocchi ( mushroom, I think) which was universally described as “yuck” and left! The fact that much of the food was untouched was not mentioned by the serving staff who collected the plates. We paid £50 a head for this evening! The hotel hadn't enough wine glasses for them to be laid out prior to the dinner and the apologetic staff left us to scout around to find our own….. we found some in an unused function room bar! This was similar to our experience on the Friday afternoon…… we tried to order a coffee and a tea from the hotel bar but were refused by the apologetic staff …… because they’d run out of cups and mugs! The reception was fairly active, but by no means busy! This strange contradiction of a city centre hotel is, however, blessed by its cheerful, hardworking staff who frequently had to apologise for some inadequacy of those making logistics decisions. Perhaps a complete audit of the management decisions would be instructive. Value - a city centre hotel offering B&B at £125 a room per night is good, but we’d have preferred to pay a little more and had a room that showed some planning and maintenance, well cooked food on hot plates ( the breakfast was good, so they can do it ) and some prior management planning so that glassware and crockery were available.
