Breakfast was good, and staff were really friendly.

My first impression of this hotel was not great - entering from the carpark involves either a very shabby waiting area for the lift of a rather shabby staircase. Reception is smart enough and the staff very friendly and helpful. I then went to my room via the lift. The corridors are a little tired with very dark decor. The room itself was tiny. Just enough room for the bed - (double tucked right agains the wall. I would not have been able to stay in this room had my partner travelled with me. There is no wardrobe - just a small hanging rail above the desk with space for 6 hangers and no more. There are a couple of small drawers also. Lighting in the room was appalling. Ceiling light in the entrance area and two tiny (yes tiny) LED reading lights over the bed. Heating worked well and it was also easy to open the window for ventilation. The hotel is circular so the room gets wider towards the outside wall but that does mean that there is a very narrow part just as you walk past the side of the bathroom and then the desk. On thing that did surprise me in such a small room was the number of electrical power sockets - you will have no issues charging phones, tablets and laptops and still be able to watch TV and boil the kettle. There were 12 power sockets in total and 8 of these had USB ports built in. Breakfast was buffet style full English and reasonable quality. But they operate on an archaic system of being given vouchers at check in. On the first morning I forgot the voucher and had to go back to my room to get it.
