“Very Beautiful”
This is a very beautiful Hotel, Old world architecture. This is a very beautiful Hotel, Old world architecture. As my wife and I have said before in other reviews, we look for Historic, Unique, different, and out of the way places, as much as possible, (We don't stay in the main stream chain hotels.) Now that being said, this charming Hotel is on the front of Plaza Mayor, it is very quiet and beautiful part of Colonia del Sacramento. A historic part of town, with the light house just across the Plaza and yet close to shopping, site seeing and very good restaurants all with in walking distance. Yes the rooms are small, but we, don't mind that at all, as we are out pretty much after breakfast till late hours of the night. The rooms are very clean, the staff are very friendly and so helpful. The rooms are all decorated in a slightly different way from each other. Very unique, and beautiful. The breakfast is really good, pretty fair selection. the Owner did a really great job of converting this from a home to a 12 room hotel. When back in Colonia del Sacramento again, we will definitely, be staying here again. I would highly recommend staying here if your looking for a quiet and historic place, this is it.

This hotel is in of the best locations. Close to everything, by Plaza Mayor and across the Light House. We took Buquebus to Colonia and walked to the Hotel (15 minutes). This hotel is in of the best locations. Close to everything, by Plaza Mayor and across the Light House. We took Buquebus to Colonia and walked to the Hotel (15 minutes). This Hotel is more like a Posada or big house with room around a central Patio. The room are small... but not bad. IT was fine with us. They have AC and everything we needed for the night. The bathroom had great water pressure and hot water. Not going to lie to you, this is not the JW, it is a very old Mision style House and it has its issues, but it was very charming to stay and experience something different. The staff is amazing and will make sure you feel like home. The breakfast was actually very nice. Coffee, toast, apple pie, cheeses, ham and other delicious sweets. We will stay here again for the right price. Great place at an excellent location.

The hotel has reasonable rooms, with comfortable beds, and a very good service. Unfortunately we had to leave very early in order to take the ship to Buenos Aires, so we were not able to evaluate breakfast. However, they were so kind that offered us some coffee at 3.30 AM. But the most important point is location. It is right in front of the old square, surrounded by restaurants in the old part of the city, and 100 meters walk from main attractions. Very quiet place, free parking space, and very silent at night. By the way, pets are welcome, which is for us very important as we usually travel with them.

The location of Hotel La Mision is perfect and the exterior of the building is architecturally pleasing and blends perfectly with the area. Parking is readily available in front of the hotel and there are many restaurants in the area. The check-in was easy, but you have to arrange as there seems to be no one on site all day. The continental breakfast was very good as was the service. The reason the for the average rating as the rooms were very small, cramped and not very comfortable. We have a home in Montevideo and visit Colonia often but had not stayed in Hotel La Mision previously. There are several other posadas in the area that offer a much more pleasant environment and all-day service for the same price.

“nice location”
A must admit I thought it was a bit pricey and overrated for the cost per night. The even charge you extra for coffee in the reception. No extra points for this. The location is what gives this place a 3.
