Avenue of the Arts Costa Mesa is by far one of my favorite hotels in Southern California. The price was just right in February, and they made the birthday experience a memorable one. The staff there has been very welcoming and nice. A few cozy chairs by the fireplace made it worth the wait for the room. The general manager was so kind to directly email me before I had arrived the hotel to ensure that I have everything taken care of before my arrival. Shoutout to Kevin for making the personal touch in this experience. The room I had was very spacious. A king bed sized room revealed the view of the lake that is behind the hotel. It is nice to walk there in the morning. The issue I had with this room was that before I entered in, it was already open, and this was in the evening. The front desk was kind enough to provide me with a different room. In my room, I received a lovely birthday note along with fruits and cookies. I really enjoyed this personal touch to make my weekend a little more special. In the morning, I would go to the lake behind the hotel to walk. There is a gym that is near it if you want to go there. Attached to this hotel is a wonderful upscale restaurant called Silver Trumpet Restaurant and Bar. It mainly has Italian and American dishes that melts in your mouth. When I ordered the food here, everyone enjoyed the risotto, pasta, and other dishes. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to SNA. You would need to ask the front desk about it. South Coast Plaza Mall is a 5 minute walk away. This hotel is conveniently located in many places I want to go to, and on top of that, a great service with a smile. Everything was cozy and accessible. I appreciate everything that this hotel has set up for my special stay here, and I can't wait to come back again.

Five stars as a business hotel. Not in the same league as five star resorts and pleasure spots but one of my favorite bus hotels. Max at front desk very helpful. Thanks for upgrade. Bed comfortable although pillows little too mushy. Urban hotel but facing the small lake is serene and pretty. Best bus hotel decor. Interesting rugs and floors and furniture. Not your typical bland generic business hotel feel. 7 minutes from John Wayne. 22 minutes to Lido area for good eating like Rye Goods and Malibu Farm.

This is an eclectic boutique hotel in the center of the office park buildings of Costa Mesa that is part of Marriott Bonvoy. It is within walking distance of the Noguchi Garden, OCMA, concert halls and South Coast Mall. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We were upgraded to a sixth floor "junior suite" which had a small anteroom before the bedroom and bath. It was all very cozy with wood floors and somewhat dated 1980's decor. Everything was in good shape and functioning except for a weak shower head and small tub. It seemed quiet, but it was not very busy the weeknight we stayed there. No matter what direction you face, there seems to be green gardens and lagoons. With the tiki torches at night you can feel like you are in Hawaii and not off the 405. There is an attached restaurant and bar which is small but adequate. The bar can be loud given its small size. Three rowdy, loud guests made it unpleasant for us, and we left early to go to dinner. The plus with the location is the nearby restaurants. Water Grill and Vaca are on the next block and within walking distance. Self parking is $40 a night which is high. Charging your car overnight is another $40 which is ridiculous. Make sure you charge your EV before arriving. I would still prefer staying here over the nearby Marriott or W Hotel. The cost is reasonable given this is Orange County.

At the silver trumpet service, I was told I need to wait 10 to 15 minutes to sit down with my daughter when the restaurant was not full at all. We ate at the bar and Annie offered great service, but it was the dinner menu was extremely expensive ($47-56 halibut-lamb without accoutrements) and there should’ve been kids options. It’s a hotel restaurant!! the breakfast the next day was very slow but more options, again they should offer a small selection specifically for children in their portion size. My air-conditioning unit wasn’t working correctly, which should’ve been checked before I checked in. The hotel parking lot was $40 for overnight… I would expect this from Disneyland or Santa Monica right on the beach, but there’s free parking at the mall… get the AAA with breakfast but make sure you get your vouchers, and don’t upgrade, that takes off the breakfast option and isn’t clear (from my experience)
