Decided to stay at the Red Roof DFW South partly due to accessibility to numerous restaurants and low cost. Check-in was quick although the desk staff informed me that they were about to cancel my reservation for unknown reasons. The room was very clean and, with the exceptions of a leaky faucet and a well-worn office chair, everything was in perfect condition. Hotel shuttle is 24/7, and while they advertise it there is no continental breakfast, although with Denny's that is a minor quibble. My bigger issue is no elevators, which can be a problem if you have a lot of luggage. All in all, a decent place for the budget-minded traveler

This overnight was not planned--thanks to many airline cancellations with my airline, I ended up reserving a room here. I arrived at DFW late and by the time I fixed up a flight with the airline agent, most hotels in the area were either completely sold out or else gouging people with their prices. I was exhausted and unless I wanted to go to downtown, this was the only option left for me. I took a chance. Originally, my flight was two days away so I was supposed to spend two nights but managed to get that changed early in the morning to a light the next day. With an ESIM without voice capability, I took an Uber that was quite expensive considering the short distance. The hotel lobby was dimly lit and there was a combo of stale cigar smoke combined with air freshener greeting me as I entered--this was everywhere I walked, including my room. I had prepaid and the person behind the desk was quick in finding it and assigning my room. I asked if I could buy some water and he was so nice that he pulled two bottles out and just gave them to me---again, the staff were so friendly and nice, and this was an example of that. The rooms are all accessible from what I could see by outdoor corridors. The lock on the doors did not feel the most secure even with the latch pulled over. It had undergone a renovation but there were still signs that it was mostly cosmetic and not deep. Scraped bath tub, scuffs on the door, unknown stains on the walls and duvet, plus seeing a hair when I pulled back the sheet was a bit disconcerting. I kept my carry-on in the bathtub but thankfully did not see any bugs or any signs that there were bugs around the bed--I did a through search using my phone light. At least there was some reassurance though I slept in my outwear. The next morning after rearranging my flight, I went next door the the 7-11, got some coffee and two breakfast sandwiches and this is where the microwave in the room was so welcomed: I could have something hot. After using the soap to scrub the bath tub, I took a shower, got ready and left. Because I paid for two nights the clerk was fine holding my room in case something went wrong with this flight so again, very nice service. The shuttle driver was also a very nice person. Perhaps if in a similar situation, I would stay again, but if planning an overnight, I would choose another hotel.
